The Audi RS4 Avant Edition 25 Years bids farewell with a performance and chassis upgrade

  • The new version of the RS 4 Avant honors the 25th anniversary of the designation
  • The model will receive an increase in power to 464 horsepower and several improvements to the chassis
  • For Europe, production is limited to 250 units

Audi is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the original RS4 with a special edition before the current model is replaced by the upcoming RS 5 Avant. The new Audi RS4 Avant Edition 25 Years has an improved version of the twin-turbo V6 with an output of 464 hp combined with an even sharper chassis setup. The anniversary special will be produced in 250 units, all reserved for European markets.

The Edition 25 model is finished in striking Imola yellow as a reference to the original RS4. Buyers who want something more discreet can also order it in Nardo Gray or Mythos Black. These are combined with glossy black accents, the omission of roof rails, an exclusive black insert in the taillights and carbon bodykit elements thanks to the Carbon matte look package. Finally, the subtle “RS4 edition 25 years” lettering is engraved on the rear side windows.

The interior features a number plate on the center console, yellow stitching and matching emblems. Black upholstery includes leather, Dinamica and Alcantara, and standard RS bucket seats with carbon backrests can be optionally combined with a suede-covered steering wheel and flat-bottomed shifter. Additionally, the driver has access to a new-look digital instrument cluster that mimics the white analog dials of the original RS4.

More Grunt for the fastest RS 4 Avant

Thanks to new software tuning, the twin-turbo V6 engine now delivers 20 PS (15 kW / 20 PS) more compared to the standard model, resulting in a total output of 464 PS (346 kW / 470 PS) and 600 Nm (443 lb -ft). While these numbers are still impressive, they still can’t match the specs of the rival BMW M3 Touring. Thanks to an improved Torsen differential and new mapping for the eight-speed automatic, the sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) takes 3.7 seconds (-0.4 seconds) and the top speed is 300 km/h (186 mph). .

In addition to the performance boost, the special edition comes standard with manually adjustable shrouds that bring it 10 mm (0.4 in) or 20 mm (0.8 in) closer to the ground. This suspension system was also present in the earlier Competition package, but the Edition 25 combines it with some other improvements. Audi Sport engineers increased the negative camber on the front axle by 2 degrees, added stiffer wishbones and more secure rear subframe mounting.

The 20-inch forged alloy wheels are shod with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires that help with asphalt traction. Owners also get a second set of track-specific Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS semi-slick wheels wrapped around matte black 20-inch alloys. The track-only tire features sensors for the Pirelli Track Adrenaline system and is complemented by a pair of Alpinestars racing gloves. RS ceramic brakes are standard, as is an RS plus sports exhaust with matte black oval tailpipes.
