Final Season 2 is coming to an end. Embark Studios’ second chapter was an amazing experience, but it’s coming to an end soon and will cease to exist in a few weeks due to the introduction of Season 3. Before the new season arrives, Embark just released a new update and The Finals 2.10.0 patch notes include buffs along with several bug fixes.

Although marketing for the next chapter has yet to officially begin, we still know exciting details about Season 3. Gadgets

APS

  • New Feature: The APS Turret now consumes a set amount of health for each projectile it destroys
    • The health cost of a destroyed projectile is 40%

Guns

Throwing knives

  • Reduced the delay before launching the first projectile from 0.22s to 0.11s to make attacks more responsive
  • Reduced the delay between first and second projectile fire from 0.15s to 0.11s to make it easier to land both knives on a moving target
  • Increased projectile initial velocity from 138 m/s to 166 m/s, increasing weapon accuracy
  • Increased primary attack damage from 60 to 63

Content and bug fixes

Animation

  • Fixed an issue where every orbital laser charge would cause the camera to shake, the shake is now removed

Sound

  • Fixed voice chat not working in certain situations on Xbox

Characters

  • Fixed the Darque Mood hairstyle to prevent the first person camera from being briefly obscured during the splash screen
  • Fixed the appearance of Pink Chunky Wedge Trainers in game

Controller

  • Fixed an issue where selecting contracts using the controller would break the selected focus

Game mods

  • Fixed bug where healbeam and defibrillators could be used in Terminal Attack
  • Reduce the chance of boxes and stations getting stuck underground

Gameplay

  • Zipline anchor ping box size reduced
  • Reduced the scale at which Ziplines are easier to ping from a distance, making them less likely to absorb pings intended for other nearby targets
  • Fixed unintentional free gaze when interacting with targets and statues
  • Fixed Glitch Barrel being hard to pick up in certain situations
  • Fixed an issue where players could get stuck when colliding with Goo on moving platforms

  • Fixed lens flare incorrectly appearing around the edge of the screen during sunset
  • Fixed characters floating slightly off the ground during the post-match winner’s celebration

Method

  • Fixed an issue where a win in Terminal Attack did not count towards the “First Win of the Day” and “Win the X Games” contracts
  • Community event progress is now displayed on the leaderboard screen
  • Daily contracts increased from 1000 XP to 10000 XP
  • In-game performance and XP targets increased by 50%

Settings

  • Added support for Steam invites

Specialization

  • Fixed a bug where players could melee quickly when using the Charge ‘n’ Slam ability
  • Fixed ability to quickly melee when using Mesh Shield

UI

  • Additional events such as respawns have been added to the in-game score log
  • Fixed an issue where your own position was not showing on the leaderboard screen
  • Fixed quick action buttons disappearing after switching tabs in the Social menu
  • Fixed an issue with the “Enable Voice Chat” key binding remaining toggleable when typing a player message
  • Fixed an issue where players could accidentally open the party menu in settings by pressing the hotkey
  • Animations will automatically play the current selection as you scroll through the customization categories
  • Updated overview stats on equipment screen for FAMAS and FCAR to better reflect their tuning
  • Added a new system to the frontend that throttles frame rate and resolution after no user input for a while or when the app is out of focus
    Developer Note: This will help save power and save your PCs and consoles from working too hard when the game is idle. This only applies to the main menu and can be toggled in the new Power Saver section of the Video settings.

VFX

  • Fixed rendering of some environment decals over first person meshes


Safety

  • We have now increased the detection of devices that emulate a controller when playing with a mouse and keyboard, which is not allowed
