Helldivers 2 is a fantastic multiplayer experience and was probably the biggest success of the year so far. Fans have absolutely loved their time with the game, but lately things have gone a little haywire due to a lack of updates. This is a deliberate choice on Arrowhead’s behalf and has been clarified by the community manager Helldivers 2 fans shouldn’t expect the next update to be the “mother of all patches”.

Arrowhead let it be known that they currently have “no date” set for the next update. While there’s no launch day planned, they’ve been transparent with the community telling fans that patches have been deliberately slowed down so developers can better test balance changes before releasing them. Arrowhead’s new CEO also informed fans that they are listening to player feedback, as long as you don’t yell at the developers to jump off a cliff.

The number of players has decreased alarmingly and many players feel that this is due to the lack of new updates and content. We don’t know exactly when the next update will finally arrive, but it’s something to look forward to, although the community has been warned not to expect the “mother of all patches” to fix every complaint.

Helldivers 2 developer sheds light on next update

Helldivers 2 community manager Twinbeard previously told fans on May 24 that Arrowhead never called the next patch a “balance update.” This was repeated to the fans to avoid sending “wrong signals”.

While there’s no estimated time of arrival for when the next update will arrive, Twinbeard has assured fans that it’s “pretty hot.” All this was told to the fans on the official Discord channel.

When fans were told they never called the next patch a “balance update,” some players mistakenly took the community manager’s message as a disclaimer that zero balance changes would be included. This worried some players, but Twinbeard clarified what they actually meant by responding to the player’s concerns.

In response to a player’s concern that there are no incoming balance changes, community manager Twinbeard provided the following message:

“I didn’t say there won’t be balancing or just bug fixes. There will definitely be a little bit of everything. I wanted to try to avoid the next patch being seen as the “mother of all patches” or a dedicated balance patch because we spent more time on it than previous patches. I hope that’s pretty clear—or as clear as it can be if you can’t go into detail.’

A message from the community manager makes it clear that we will receive balance updates, but it is not a “dedicated balance patch” nor is it the “mother of all patches” that will fix every complaint within the community. This gives the players some hope while informing the fans to maintain realistic expectations.

As for what we can expect from updates in the future, the developer said they are working on a solution to help players kicked by troll lobby leaders. Arrowhead is also considering adding an emote wheel with more emotes, and the developer has told fans that it believes a fix for the spear complaint is on the way.

We must also not forget that the Illuminati are obliged to make their presence known. The upcoming mission brings us closer to the arrival of the Illuminate and the leaks show a four-armed Illuminate enemy along with a new weapon belonging to an alien race.
