What other LEGO Zelda sets would you like to see after the Deku tree?

With this set likely to be the first in a new Lego Zelda line, the NL team sat down to think about what other Hyrule landmarks and personalities could make for epic Lego sets in the future…

Kokiri Forest & Lost Woods (Gavin Lane, editor)

I’m still shocked that Nintendo didn’t push for some quirky new innovation with the Animal Crossing and Zelda sets, but I’m also excited to see it follow the NES and the adult-oriented Mario 64 ‘?’ Block.

My mind immediately jumps to Ocarina. The Temple of Time would be nice, but the OoT version isn’t that exciting – I’d rather see the Forest Temple diorama s battle with Phantom Ganondorf or in Lost Woods with Skull Kid on a stump with a light brick providing a spot light for Link’s Ocarina solo. Epona figurine it’s clear, with some Lon Lon Ranch fences to jump on, plus Malon, Talon and Ingo minifigures. How about Clock Tower from Majora’s Mask with the ominous Moon looming overhead?

In fact, seeing Link’s house included in the Deku set and hearing Ollie bemoan the lack of a Mido minifigure got me thinking character-based expansion packs for the Kokiri Forest section, also. These would be more affordable small kits with a Kokiri minifigure and landscape detail. Little Mido guarding the archway leading to the Deku Tree, a girl sitting in a shop saying ‘Hello!’, a guy wrestling in a circle of stones, waving Saria with grass full of rupees or something.

There’s no shortage of ideas for grander sets, but I’d love to see something smaller. I’m also going to see what a Ganondorf minifig would look like.

Dragon Roost Island (Ollie Reynolds, Staff Writer)

I wondered how Wind Waker’s unique art style would translate to Lego, but when I started thinking about potential sets, I immediately decided Dragon Roost Island. I’m under no illusions that something like this would cost a lot of money, but god, it would so cold.

Just imagine, a complete Lego replica of the island’s overworld, complete with palm trees, bomb flowers, a swirling vortex of smoke atop a volcano, and of course, Big Valoo alone. With the minifigures, you could have Link, several Rito tribesmen, Chuchus, Kargarocs, and hell, even the wind god Zephos. And of course you’ll need some kind of speaker to play the iconic Dragon Roost Island theme tune. Yeah, this thing would probably cost at least £500…

You know what, but I’ll settle for the Lego version Wind Waker Gohm boss battle. That thing is so terrible.

Four Giants (Alana Hagues, Associate Editor)

Majora's Mask Moon

Yes, it’s very ambitious, I know, but I want my ideas to be a little crazy. I also want the Temple of Time from OoT, but I’ll settle for the absolute insanity that would be the Four Giants trying to stop the moon from falling.

The guardian deities of Termina are central figures in The Major’s Mask, and there are fewer iconic images from this game than the four that stop the moon from destroying the earth. It would be one of those builds that wouldn’t have too many tricks, honestly – but it would be complicated. Four buildable giants — everyone sa miniature version of the mask that you must set them free—and one big monthmaybe half a month to keep costs down.

Other things you can get with it are Minifigures Link, Skull Kid (although I hope we all saw this awesome Skull Kid build a few years ago), The Happy Mask Seller or Lunar ChildrenMaybe if the moon is only a crescent, the flat side could be the location itself with the tree in the middle.

Rito Village (Jim Norman, staff writer)

Rito village

There really isn’t a single Zelda location, item, or character that I like No you want to see made of Lego. So I tried to be realistic about it. Zora’s domain? Too wet. Minsk village? Too small. Bazaar Kara Kara? Too much sand (rude, rude and irritating). But Rito village is a set I can imagine.

Just picture it: a vertical structure with a perch-shaped focal rock in the center, winding stairs with houses (dormitories?) on the sides, and enough detail to fill Hyrule Historia three times over. Stick with the BOTW theme and give us a paraglider for the Link minifig. God, it can be Kass figurine! With a little accordion! I’m more sold on this idea by the minute.

However, what is more likely to damage my bank balance will be the array of exhibits such as the LEGO Helmet line, the Infinity Gauntlet or the Star Wars dioramas. My shelves are already buckling under the pressure of the models I currently own, but I’m sure I could squeeze in detailed Master Sword, Hylian Shield or Ocarina. I’m an adult after all.

Anything else you’d rather have than any of the above? Maybe sage stained glass window kits? A recreation of Hyrule Castle’s stealth garden? Will Jim’s proposal of a tiny Kass with a tiny accordion trump everything else? Let us know your favorite ideas below.
