Nintendo has added five classic Mega Man Game Boy games to the Switch Online subscription.
These are the games Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge, Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3, Mega Man 4 and Mega Man 5 now part of the Game Boy – Nintendo Switch Online library.
Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge launched on the Game Boy in 1991, two years after the handheld came out. It kicked off Capcom’s impressive run of action platformers on the Game Boy, ending with 1994’s Mega Man 5. It’s worth noting that Thinking Rabbit’s Mega Man 2 was the only one of the five to be developed by a studio other than Capcom.
Nintendo said today’s release is part of the Game Boy’s 35th anniversary celebrations this year. The Game Boy launched in 1989 with the likes of Super Mario Land, Tetris, Baseball and Alleyway, all of which are now on Nintendo Switch Online. Other Game Boy games on the service include Metroid 2 – Return of Samus, Kirby’s Dream Land, Super Mario Land 2 – 6 Gold Coins, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX and Wario in Wario Land 3.
As for Mega Man, the last major entry in the series is 2018’s Mega Man 11. While Capcom has released a number of collections over the years, there is no word on a potential Mega Man 12.

- MEGA MAN: DR. WILY’S REVENGE – Dr. Wily wants revenge and this time he has created his own “Mega Man Killer”! With this creation and his revived Robot Masters at his side, the evil doctor plans to embark on a journey of global domination. Play as Mega Man in his first portable adventure and save the world from destruction by sending the creations of Dr. Wily’s back in the trash.
- MEGA MAN II – Dr. Wily has stolen an experimental time skimmer that allows him to travel to the future to nefarious ends. Luckily, Mega Man and his trusty robot dog Rush are on the case! Collect items and power-ups to defeat the robot masters standing between you and Dr. Wily – including a mysterious enemy from the future: Quinta!
- MEGA MAN III – Mega Man’s fight against Dr. Wilymu takes him to the hottest place on Earth! Dr. Wily and his renegade robots drill into the planet’s molten core to collect the energy that powers his latest diabolical invention. Join Mega Man and Rush in action-packed levels through the sinister scientist’s fortress, battling various robot masters and collecting their weapons before taking on Dr. To Wily and his final creation.
- MEGA MAN IV – The World’s Fair of Robots has been destroyed by the mad Dr. Wily! By pressing a button on his mind control device, Dr. Wily all the robots in town in his personal raging reinforcements. The only robot out of his control is Mega Man, and together with Rush, he plans to stop Dr. Wily’s devious plans once again! Collect power-ups, blast robot masters and build circuits to build a powerful ally called Beat. Can the trio save the day, or will the mind control machine Dr. Wily’s downfall of Mega Man?
- MEGA MAN V – While on a leisurely trip with his sister Roll, Mega Man is attacked by a powerful robot named Terra, who heralds an invasion of robots from outer space to conquer Earth. After rearrangement in the laboratory of Dr. Lighta, Mega Man sets out to save the day with a powerful weapon – the Mega Arm! Fight your way through waves of space enemies, use weapon upgrades and summon companions to help you solve the mystery of this alien attack.
