Train services were canceled this afternoon after emergency services were called to the incident on the outskirts of London.
South Western Railway (SWR) said lines between Clapham Junction and Surbiton were affected. All services had to be stopped earlier to allow rescue teams to get onto the line, and although the route has now reopened, disruption is not expected until later in the afternoon.
Passengers have been warned that services may be cancelled, delayed or reworked. They can also use their SWR ticket on other routes, including London Underground and other National Rail operators.

Why were the lines cut?
Response teams worked with emergency services to assist with the incident. However, to allow emergency services access to the railway, all power to the track was turned off in the affected area, resulting in the shutdown of all services in the area.
While South Western Railway will resume service to a planned timetable, train services may be cancelled, delayed or revised.
