M. Bison gameplay trailer revealed for Street Fighter 6 Season 2, out June 26

Just yesterday during the Summer GameFest 2024 presentation, M. Bison, Terry Bogard, Mai Shiranui and Elena were revealed as characters coming to Street Fighter 6 via the Year 2 Character Pass. Although Capcom originally planned to release M. Bison’s gameplay trailer on June 8, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. PT / 11:00 a.m. ET, they ended up revealing the video much earlier.

Initially, no further information was revealed about M. Bison’s release date, but Capcom would then follow up with a tweet that indicated M. Bison would be released on June 26, 2024. That’s less than three weeks from today.

From what the trailer shows us, it would appear that M. Bison is suffering from amnesia. He doesn’t seem to know the name “M. Bison”, but claims to take the name for himself.

As with all other playable characters in Street Fighter 6, M. Bison can be interacted with during World Tour mode. He met him while riding a horse. Additionally, M. Bison will ride this horse with his arms crossed during his victory animation as well.

Needless to say, the World Tour mode developed a certain questline as DLC characters were added to Street Fighter 6. These quests hinted at M. Bison’s resurrection all along.

At one point, a confidential document can be obtained during one of these optional tasks. It is here that we learn of an interesting person in Mexico who was observed reviving a dying horse. This horse is probably the horse we see in this trailer.

Despite the amnesia, this is very clearly M. Bison in terms of his mannerisms and play style. Many of M. Bison’s classic moves return in Street Fighter 6.

As always, purple energy can be seen from M. Bison’s body. However, there are also several instances where M. Bison is seen using a green glow instead.

M. Bison has access to his Double Knee Press (aka Scissor Kick) and Psycho Crusher. These are both specials moving forward that really emphasize M. Bison as a character rushing down.

The normal version of the Psycho Crusher is shown to be able to absorb a projectile hit and still retain a shell that hits the opponent. On the other hand, Overdrive Psycho Crusher will simply allow M. Bison to break through the projectile.

Overdrive Knee Press now actually launches the opponent into the air. This allows M. Bison to continue juggling the opponent for additional damage.

He also retains access to the Head Press (aka Head Stomp) and Devil’s Reverse specials. The combination of the two makes M. Bison especially difficult against air because it’s always a puzzle with him.

Overdrive Head Press appears to go into a cinematic after hitting an opponent. However, it also appears that this move can be used as an OTG (from the ground). With this use, M. Bison can continue the combo for a bit longer.

From Street Fighter 5, it appears that M. Bison still has access to a variation of Psycho Charge, which basically plants a bomb on the opponent. This was normally only available to M. Bison during his V-Trigger 2, but now it looks like he always has access to it in Street Fighter 6.

After the set time, the psycho charge explodes and causes the opponent to shoot into the air. We have to imagine that scoring a hit on M. Bison while Psycho Charge is active will effectively dispel the effect. After all, that’s how it worked in Street Fighter 5.

During the trailer, M. Bison is also shown to have an absolutely insane Drive Rush. He is very quickly able to close the space against the opponent from across the screen by depleting the Drive Gauge bar.

His level 1 super art is known as Nightmare Booster. His level 2 super art is basically his Ultra 2, Psycho Punisher, from Ultra Street Fighter 4.

We also finally get to look at his Level 3 Super Art, which can apparently be canceled from the initial hit of his Psycho Crusher. The animation for the Critical Art version of this super will likely be slightly different.
