Google Pixel owners should start receiving the June security patch, which offers several fixes for Android 14-enabled devices.
As detailed in the Pixel Community post, phones from the Pixel 5a (5G) to the Pixel 8a are getting the June patch. Eligible devices include Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet. Owners of the above Android 14 devices should start downloading/installing the software version AP2A.240605.024.
Google says that the fixes have included fixes for battery issues plaguing the Pixel 6 Pro, 6a, and Pixel 7 series. Users have reported stability and performance issues with the batteries and charging of these devices, which should now be resolved.
The Pixel Tablet is catching a patch that should fix an issue that prevented it from charging “under certain conditions.”
There are a few camera issues covered in June, with the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro dealing with Astrophotography stability issues. Stability issues when switching between zooms on the Pixel 7, Pixel 8, 8 Pro and Pixel Fold series should start to see signs of relief. Google has also added more “general” camera stabilization fixes for many devices.
According to his changelog, the remaining fixes are as follows:
- General stability or performance improvements for Bluetooth LE audio
- General display stability improvements
- General system stability improvements during device setup
- General improvements to system stability and performance under certain conditions
- General improvements to network connection stability and performance under certain conditions
- Fixed an issue with the navigation bar not displaying correctly under certain conditions
- Fixed an issue with transitions between the home screen and the lock screen
- General performance and stability improvements in certain UI transitions and animations
According to the Android Security Bulletin, Google is bringing 12 “high” priority framework fixes and seven “high” priority system fixes with the update.
The June security patch starts rolling out today (June 11), and Google says it will continue “in phases” next week. The company says the speed at which the update will be available will depend on carrier and device, so keep your eyes peeled for when it hits your phone.
