An expert has warned iPhone users not to download iOS 18 as it appears to be “missing”.

The beta version, a preview version available to some users before the commercial release of the software, is available from Apple revealed the update at its WWDC event on Monday.

However, users who downloaded the iOS 18 beta could encounter a variety of performance issues with their phone, including shorter battery life and charging issues, missing or undelivered notifications, and some apps not working.

It’s important to keep in mind that the beta version isn’t really ready for everyday iPhone use, and it’s risky to download if you only have one phone.

The software is not in its final form, so anyone who downloads it will be opening themselves up to a lot of hassles and shutdowns as the system glitches and tries to find its feet.

Tech writer Michael Swengel chose X to remind people that downloading software to your main device is not recommended.

“Reminder: probably NOT a good idea to upgrade your main (only) device to beta,” he wrote.

“This is the very first public beta. There will be mistakes.

“If you want to test the beta, I recommend using another device if you have one.”

The launch of Apple’s iOS 18 seems enticing as there will be a number of new features that could make life easier, including ways to customize the home screen, message scheduling, the company’s new AI additions through Apple Intelligence, and many more.

However, the version is intended for novice developers who are trained in finding bugs in software.

And there are a lot of mistakes.

On X developer John Williams Archer revealed that when he tested the beta on his replacement iPhone 12 Pro Max, he found that the device automatically restarted when he left the lock screen.

He also found that the new “Lock and Hide App” feature, which can make apps invisible or only accessible through FaceID, didn’t work as intended, as he couldn’t open an app after locking or hiding it.

Another tech enthusiast found that when using iOS 18 beta, app logos disappear when changing the tone and color of the home screen.

While the iOS 18 beta is an easy download for those with an iPhone, the full product shouldn’t be a long wait.

Apple has announced that the software should be released later this year, which could be as early as September, when Apple has a habit of dropping new software alongside new devices – with the iPhone 16 next in line.

But if you can’t wait until then to download the software, then you’ve been warned that it might not work as futuristic as you’d like.
