This beautiful converted chapel for sale in Anglesey, Wales has one glaring feature that estate agents failed to mention and left social media users guessing.
House hunters were left in stitches after spotting a converted chapel for sale – with a glaring omission from the estate agent’s description – a giant hole in the living room floor.
The one bedroom property on the picturesque Isle of Anglesey in North West Wales boasts a charming facade with large windows that flood the space with natural light. However, the bizarre feature, a hole covered by a glass panel, has sparked a flurry of online comments with potential buyers coming up with their own hilarious theories about what it could be, including some weirder guesses like a portal to hell.
On the market for £210,000 and a Grade II listed property. degree it was once a chapel and is located in the village of Coedana and has “breathtaking, unobstructed views across the countryside and Eryri National Park”. Agents Williams & Goodwin said: “Having been extensively refurbished to a high standard, the property is really well suited as a turnkey property.”
He adds: “It’s not often a property of this charm and character is available and an early viewing is highly recommended! Located in Coedana on the edge of Llannerch-Y Medd with local shop, post office, primary school and public houses. the property really has what offer.
“Quick links to nearby towns such as Llangefni and Amlwch for further amenities including supermarkets and leisure facilities. Welcomed into the main hallway leading to the open plan lounge and kitchen and then to the rear hall and downstairs shower room. The first floor opens to the living / sleeping areas with an attic room located on the second floor.”
The pictures of the house clearly show a glazed opening in the living room, but it is not mentioned in the offer at all. One user shared the images to a Reddit thread titled “Where does the hole go?” says: “I found this feature. I really like it, but I wonder why they don’t show or even acknowledge the hole in the floor. Where does it go and what’s in it?”
Other users clicked through to the comments to share their walkthroughs, with one suggesting: “The Moon Door”, a reference to the hit TV show Game of Thrones, to which another replied: “This is the only possible answer. “
One quipped: “It’s a converted chapel so obviously the window was down to see the hell fire and brimstone waiting for all the heathens,” followed by another who thought it might be the “Pit of Serpents.” Several users thought the hole could be an underground room or a vault under the church used for burials, with one saying: “Wondered if it was a crypt as it was an old chapel,” said another, while one agreed and he added, “I was hoping it would be nice to own an old crypt.”
Other users were more interested in helping the original poster by suggesting some more logical and realistic ideas. “Looks like it could be a well,” said one, and someone else answered. “Yeah, it’s going to be an original well that’s covered in glass as a feature. We have one at my workplace,” replied another. “Well, well, well. Well, I never,” said one cheerfully. And another simply replied, “Nice. Free water!”
