Randazzo shared: “Final preparations are underway and we expect it to be available for purchase on 25Jun24, with interim back-up days extended to 30Jun24 should they be necessary to resolve any last-minute issues.” This ensures a polished and ready product for all sim enthusiasts.
The PMDG 777-300ER is the cornerstone of the new PMDG 777 product line for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This product line will expand to include the 777F, 777-200ER and 777-200LR, each sold separately, catering to fans of specific variants within the Boeing 777 family. Randazzo emphasized that the simulation is designed to meet the expectations of both flight simulation fans and casual users alike, combining stunning visual detail with an advanced level of technical simulation.
Features and innovations
The development of the PMDG 777 incorporated extensive customer feedback from previous products such as the DC-6 and 737 to provide an exceptional experience. Created using lidar scanning and photogrammetry, the cockpit promises a highly accurate and immersive flight deck environment. The product features carefully modeled switches, buttons, levers and sounds to ensure a realistic flying experience when using a standard display or VR headset.
“The simulation of the systems in our 777 is second to none,” Randazzo emphasized. “All major and minor systems are simulated to a fanatical level of detail that will pass the scrutiny of even experienced pilots, engineers and maintainers.” The simulation also includes an improved PMDG Universal Flight Tablet, full SimBrief integration and a modern SQL-based navdata format provided by Navigraph.
One standout feature is the updated lateral runway model, which allows the 777 to accurately interpret and fly all lateral runway segments from the navigation database. This ensures a high degree of realism and accuracy in navigation that meets real world standards.
The PMDG 777-300ER also features an advanced engine and fuel consumption model, with performance tests showing fuel burn accuracy within 0.3% of planned values, even in long-haul scenarios. This level of detail ensures that users can rely on the simulation for both short- and long-range planning.
Customization and realism
Customization options remain a hallmark of PMDG products, and the 777-300ER is no exception. It includes a comprehensive failure model, simulating real-life scenarios and maintenance wear and tear.
