Will you be buying a PS5 Pro?

Is the PS5 Pro the next big announcement? (Sony)

Pro tip
Now that the previews are over for the year, it’s another long road to the next state of the PS5, aside from Nintendo. Besides, the next one will probably be for the PS5 Pro? The idea seems to be that they won’t announce it too soon because they don’t want to discourage anyone from buying the current model in the meantime.

Except I’d assume the PS5 Pro is a hard enough buy that it won’t really delay much, so I’d probably expect it by August at the latest. They could combine it with more on Concord since that comes out in mid-August, although I’m not sure most people really want to hear that much about it.

The question for me is, is anyone going to buy a PS5 Pro? Rumors about the frame rate and resolution sound so technical that I really don’t see it being as popular as the PS4 Pro and that was only about 20% of the total sales of the PlayStation 5. I think it’s too little to make any meaningful difference and I doubt the PS5 Pro will even do that.

I definitely don’t plan on getting one and I wonder how many people are reading this. If money isn’t an issue then I understand, but otherwise it sounds very minor unless they also announce a new game that really needs/really uses it.

Car settings
To Alex who wrote about how to beat everyone on hard mode on Gran Turismo. I found myself only playing the weekly bike challenges online. You are forced to race correctly as your lap time will not be counted (the timer will turn red) if you cross the line on the track.

I absolutely loved turning off all UI brake zones and line help. I left the apexes on.

He lowered the skid control to two.

I spent about an hour tackling some mountain levels in a mega responsive rally car and had an absolute blast getting a time good enough to get a bronze trophy and 250,000 credits.

I can’t recommend it enough to learn the track and feel like you’re actually racing.

Finally done
Hello, it’s been a while since I last wrote. In the meantime, I managed to complete the Diamond Cup on Master difficulty in F-Zero GX. It was a bittersweet feeling in the end, given the difficulty, but an achievement to finally unlock the AX Cup.

If Nintendo were to make another game in the series, it would be nice to see the random track generator return from F-Zero X, perhaps with the ability to save the cool tracks generated. Maybe they could also add a custom track editor.

As for new ideas, maybe we could have tracks that terraform to add a ramp, rough patch, boost (or any other crazy idea they can think of) when you travel on them at a certain speed or with a specific button. It would add a nice strategic element to races.

If they name their next console Switch U, then the new game might be aptly named F-Zero SUX!

A rough start
I only played the Dark Souls DLC but you had to progress a bit and find the item to get to it. Even then, the new area was not handed over to you. I’ve never tried 2 or 3 so they may be different, although I think you have to get through the swamp area in 3 to get to the Frida DLC.

The guy who wrote that he beat Elden Ringo never met Mohg? He must have missed a lot of the game. I’m 200 hours into it and still missing some optional bosses and areas.

I look forward to coming back. I missed it, but spent too long there to go back to vanilla territory. This time I’ll even use Faith, a class I normally avoid like the plague, but I’ve lost to brute force and magic before.
Bobwallet

GC: We’re not sure that’s true. Mohg, Lord of Blood is trapped in his own area that can only be reached via an easily overlooked side quest (which requires PS Plus) or a random teleport in a late game area that requires two hard-to-find items. .

Appearance is everything
Crikey! Seeing that PS5 “slim” thumbnail (RE: the GC sales drop article) was a little annoying. I always thought it was a terrible looking machine, but when it lost weight it looks even worse. Definitely a console for control from a compartment with a door. I think sales can be driven by product aesthetics.

Remember, Nintendo DS sales took off after a much-needed redesign (well, it took a software hit to match). I can’t imagine a system so brutal to the eye in the history of game consoles, considering the American SNES.

The PlayStation 5 just screams corporate wealth and contentment. The PS4 Pro and Xbox X are just crying out to be set on fire, but this abomination put the thought into my head that I should have a fire extinguisher handy given its flimsy demeanor. It’s like something that came out of the echo chamber mind of stuffy corporate types.

GC: Worse than the American SNES? That’s harsh, but we’re not sure we can disagree. But which Xbox X do you mean? Xbox One X or Xbox Series X? Microsoft is as bad at naming consoles as Sony is at designing their looks.

90s shopping
RE: The games should cost around £150! Because in the 90s blah, blah, that’s the equivalent in today’s money.

1. In the 90’s I never paid for my games my parents did and then it was only twice a year, birthdays and Christmas and maybe a year of savings. If the company wants us to buy more than three games a year, then £150 a time is no way to entice us, or me.

2. In the 90’s we took our games to school and traded them with our friends, my Earthworm Jim for your Zool, your Pit-Fighter for my Mean Machines. With the rapidly changing dynamic towards digital only, where will we get to try out some of the games we never got, especially for say £150? We didn’t buy it, couldn’t afford it or justify the cost, I can’t borrow it from a friend, people are buying less, let’s raise the cost even more to cover our cost and turn even more people off.

3. In the 1990s, almost every second city had a place where business was conducted. Now reported seemingly every other week, it is quickly on the decline if not completely extinct now that the GAME is over. I distinctly remember back in the late 90’s my indie games store sold me a new N64 game that cost £50 and whenever I wanted to trade in I got £25 back on my next purchase regardless of which game was traded in and for what? Good times!

The thing is, no matter what the price of the game was, there was always a chance to get a percentage back. If I’m expected to pay £150 for something I can’t trade or sell, which seems sooner rather than later, then I’m less likely to buy it.

Now Cranston equated movies and value for money, which I guess is true on paper, however movies make millions and millions around the world. Why? Well I believe it’s included, I can see a new film at the local cinema for a fiver, £7.50 for luxury seats! It is single use and valid worldwide. If the cinema cost £45 to see the latest blockbuster, then you can guarantee that there would be far fewer people filling those seats.

Doesn’t it stand to reason that if the games cost much less, say £40 RRP, more would be sold? I know for one I would definitely buy four games costing a total of £160 rather than one costing £150! Especially in the digital age where there are fewer and fewer ways to recoup some of the initial costs.

    Faking evidence
So the Nintendo Direct must be on June 18th, right? I wonder why they leave it so late after other companies? They usually don’t have a problem being at the same time, so is there something that maybe isn’t quite ready that they want to show off?

I think if they don’t have much overall, they need to make sure what they have looks tip top. I’ll take this as proof that Metroid Prime 4 will be revealed this month, even though it’s not really proof at all.

    We can rebuild
I put a lot of time into Starfield. I really do. It’s Bethesda. It’s one of their RPGs and I’m crazy about their work. It’s the reason there’s no Skyrim sequel and it’s the reason there’s no Fallout 5. It’s really such a big deal to make a new IP.

Last year when the reviews were coming in and I was waiting for the GC’s verdict on the game then, I couldn’t believe it when the GC gave it only an average score. I’ve played it for hours and hours. I realized it had a few weaknesses, but the core games were good. It was addicting. The way The Elder Scrolls and Fallout always pulled me in and consumed all of my time.

Starfield is not Fallout. It’s not Skyrim. It has the basics of those great games, but GC got it right in their review. I agree with every word. You can still have fun with it. Of course you can. But it’s not a breakthrough. It’s nothing new. It’s an adventure with a menu to the next place. He deserves every last lambast he ever got.

The skill tree is fantastic. That’s one main reason I kept doing it back then, who doesn’t like leveling? Space games don’t excite me as much as Lord of the Rings type adventure games, but I’ll give everything a shot at least once.

Phil Spencer saying that he played a lot of the game and that he is definitely a space pirate makes me wonder if he has been playing it, or if he is being categorized under his job title by some Yes-man student. It’s the worst part of the game. The fight on the ship is not good at all. Kudos to them for trying something different, but they just don’t. No thank you.

The Shattered Space DLC had better not be a dogfight around the planets, hidden behind a few minutes of video of the Varuun house, as if we were to explore a proper planet and none of this boring procedural stuff.

You know what? I finally understand why it’s average and I hate to say it, but it is. It’s the worst game they’ve ever made, but it can be fixed. Not fixing things over time like their usual big and bugged things. Like a huge jumpsuit. Cyberpunk style.

If they can fix it like Team Projekt Red did with Cyberpunk 2077 in a few years, then good luck. Cyberpunk is extremely good right now.

I know you guys are fans of the genre, but have you played Sine Mora? I had it on my PS Vita but picked it up cheap for my Switch and it’s such a great shooter. I highly recommend it and it has the best ending theme music of any game.
    Simon

GC: Yes, but we haven’t thought about it in years.

Sony’s hatred/disinterest in Bloodborne will never be the weirdest mystery in gaming. If they don’t care that much, then why not sell the rights back to From? At least that way they would make new money from it.
