What will be shown at Nintendo Direct in June 2024? All leaks

Is it time to party Mario? (Nintendo)

Nintendo is set to reveal the Switch lineup for the rest of 2024 at its next Direct, in what could be the last presentation dedicated to the console.

With a Switch sequel on the horizon, 2024 is almost certainly the last year it will be Nintendo’s primary console.

There’s no better proof that the Switch’s time is coming to an end than this year’s game lineup, which mostly consisted of smaller first-party titles like Princess Peach: Showtime! and remakes like Paper Mario: The Thousand Year-Door.

So what could Nintendo have up its sleeve for the Switch’s last Christmas in the spotlight? Here are all the rumors and likely games for the Nintendo Direct on Tuesday, June 18.

Has Nintendo confirmed anything about the June Direct?

Nintendo has announced that this year’s June Direct will last around 40 minutes in total, suggesting that the company has at least something significant to show.

The company hasn’t confirmed any games for the demo, but it’s virtually guaranteed that Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD will be shown in some capacity as it releases later this month.

However, Nintendo has ruled out any “mention” of a Nintendo Switch successor, so don’t expect any reveal of its next console – although some small hint is possible.

What is being said about Nintendo Direct in June 2024?

Before the Direct, reports suggested that Xenoblade Chronicles X, one of the last remaining Wii U games trapped on the system, would finally be coming to the Switch. With all the other Xenoblade Chronicles games available on the system, it makes sense that this should be reworked to make the set complete.

There are also rumors of something related to Star Fox, though it’s unclear in what capacity. The last original title in the series was 2016’s Star Fox Zero on the Wii U, which came out towards the end of that system’s lifespan – but made heavy use of the Wii U GamePad and can be difficult to run on the Switch.

The last major Switch game known to be in development is Metroid Prime 4, though it’s unclear if it’s been pushed back for another console after the 2019 reboot. Even so, it’s possible that Metroid Prime 4 has an appearance, especially if it’s intended to be a cross-gen game.

It doesn’t even have to be the only Metroid demo. Metroid Prime 2 and 3 remasters have been rumored for years, and this might be the perfect time to show off one (or both) of them to build anticipation for the next installment.

Some smaller announcements seem to have leaked last week as well. The update for Among Us has passed the date for the Nintendo Direct, so it’s almost certain to appear.

Evidence of PlayStation trophies have also surfaced online for Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition, suggesting that a shadow could be dropped during the presentation. On the same day, The House Of The Dead 2 Remake was rated for Switch in Europe after originally being announced back in 2019.

Well-known Nintendo leaker Pyoro recently retweeted a post suggesting that something related to Ace Attorney would be announced at the presentation, which some believe could be a remaster of the Ace Attorney Investigations series – one of which has never been released in the West before.

After missing out on the Xbox Games Showcase, there’s hope that Hollow Knight: Silksong will finally make an appearance – but no more than usual.

Finally, there are also the ongoing rumors of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess ports that still haven’t materialized. As well as less substantial rumors of a new Zelda remake and/or spin-off game starring Zelda.

What else could be announced?

Rumors aside, Nintendo usually turns to Mario-themed sports games when schedules need to be filled, so it’s possible we could see something along the lines of Mario Sports Mix or a new tennis or golf title.

The same goes for Mario Party, which has consistently sold well. The last title in the series was Mario Party Superstars three years ago, so it seems that another entry is planned. There have also been unfounded rumors in exactly this sense.

The Nintendo Direct will be available to stream on YouTube on Tuesday 18 June from 15:00 BST in the UK, which means 7:00 PT/10:00 ET in the US.
