Forza Horizon 5 may have gone full retro in its last update, but with the latest version, it’s heading back to the present — for the most part. The next Forza Horizon 5 update is called “Modern Horizons” and features up to 10 new cars for players to add to their garage alongside the usual amount of additional content and upgrades. As always, we also got a tease of what’s to come next for an ongoing racing game with live service.
Playground Games detailed the Forza Horizon 5: Modern Horizon update in the Let’s Go! stream below, but I’ll include everything you need to know in this article. As always, the update goes out on Tuesday (June 18, 2024 to be exact) with the new Modern Horizons Festival playlist starting next Thursday (which is June 20).

- Five new cars. The Modern Horizons update is all about – you guessed it – modern cars. Five new Festival Playlist reward vehicles have been released in the past few years, and there’s even a highly-coveted new addition with the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse.

- Universal Icons Car Pack. There’s also an all-new Car Pack, perfect for fans of iconic Universal Studios franchises from the 80s and 90s, such as Jurassic Park, Knight Rider and Back to the Future. The Universal Icons Car Pack will be available from June 18, 2024 for $9.99.

- New EventLab props. Perfect for testing out your new modern powerhouses, Playground Games is also adding brand new EventLab props. This time it’s tons of different highway pieces so players can design their own highways for EventLab creations.
- Other accessories. Elsewhere, Modern Horizons is a fairly modest update. We’re getting a new Shark Outfit cosmetic item, as well as a sleek and shiny Robot Collectible that you can discover in the world as part of the Festival Playlist.
The Forza Horizon 5 car list in the Modern Horizons update includes some excellent new cars, such as the Dark Horse Mustang, Toyota’s popular GR Yaris, and some select electric vehicles from Hyundai. But for many, the highlight of this update will be the Universal Icons Car Pack, which features some sweet vehicles from legendary franchises.
The distinctive red lights on KITT are fully functional and all three Time Machines will have a unique and accurate sound when reaching 88 MPH. There’s a lot of attention to detail here, which should make the relatively high $9.99 price tag more than worth it for fans. The Universal Icons Car Pack will be available for one of the best racing games on Xbox from June 18, 2024.
Playground Games also announced another update for Forza Horizon 5, which will apparently include a cafe as part of the Evolving World. I have no idea what that entails, but it will be interesting to find out.
