9 “Mature” Games We’d Like To See On The New N64 Nintendo Switch Online App

The arrival of Rareware’s classic Perfect Dark and Acclaim’s Turok: Dinosaur Hunter via the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack was a very welcome announcement at the June 2024 Nintendo Direct. Both titles are the first entries in a new standalone Nintendo N64 app labeled ‘MATURE 17+’.

Following on from the Japanese version that launched when GoldenEye hit the service in 2023, the app will be an “adults only” repository for all M-rated games with blood, language, or other naughtiness deemed inappropriate for younger audiences by the ESRB. players. In the case of Perfect Dark and Turoka, it’s the blood and violence that sets them apart from the other family-friendly N64 games on NSO.

Of course, this opens the door for more adult-only N64 games, so we’ve compiled a selection we’d like to see on Nintendo Switch Online. As you will see, not all of them are cool classics, but we argue that NSO is perhaps the best and most convenient place for games that you wouldn’t spend money on, but are still interesting in some way and worth exploring. Very few people would buy a stand-alone version of, say, Winback, but as part of a service you’re already paying for, it might charm you.
