Amazon has made a big change in delivery

AMAZON has increased its minimum amount for free deliveries from £25 to £35, sparking a furious backlash from customers.

The updated cap will mean customers will have to pay 40% more to avoid the delivery charge if they want to bring the item home.

The change appears to have happened this week after the website was quietly updated.

Commenting on X, Sakhalin Husky said: “Just noticed @AmazonUK has increased the minimum spend for free delivery to £35…

“That is a lot for many people in these shortened times.

“Not very well advertised given how intertwined they are in our lives now.”

Another wrote: “That’s too high! Plus you didn’t exactly post it, very sneaky!”

Most types of delivery are free for Amazon Prime members, with the exception of the super-fast ‘Same Day & Overnight Delivery’ services, which cost £1.99 if you spend less than £20.

Non-Prime members can avoid paying a delivery fee for a low-value item by ordering it for pickup from a “pickup location,” such as an Amazon locker.

But not all items can be collected this way.

On HotUKDeals, one user said: “I use collection services and lockers that don’t have a minimum basket size. And very conveniently there is a place over the road that offers both.”

But another replied: “It’s only a matter of time before they start charging for locker delivery.”

Shopping Discounts – How to save and find the best bargains

An Amazon spokesperson said: “There are currently a number of external factors that affect shipping costs.

“We are constantly innovating and working to bring more value to our customers, and non-Prime customers will receive free delivery on all orders over £35.

“Prime members will continue to benefit from unlimited fast, free one-day delivery on millions of items regardless of order value.”
