Limited Run Games reveals four PS1 games for PS5 and PS4

Retro re-release purveyor Limited Run Games recently revealed four new PS1 games coming to PS5 and PS4 in 2025 at its LRG3 2024 showcase. Last year, the publisher wowed us with five PS1 ports of PS5 trophies to be released throughout 2024, so it’s not too surprising to see them pull the same magic trick this year.

Just like last time, these new PS1 ports for PS5 and PS4 will use Limited Run Games’ “Carbon Engine,” which allows these classic titles to implement modern features like trophy support. Check out all four PS1 games coming to PS5 and PS4 with trophy support below!

Tomb 2

  • You can find these Tomba 2 trophies here when they become available
  • PS5 Release Date: TBA 2025
  • Genre: Platformer

We’re pretty close to launch Tomb 1 on PS5 and PS4 on Monday, August 1, 2024, so why not start building hype for the sequel now? Tomba 2 The Evil Swine Return originally released in the West on the PS1 in 2000 and was relatively well received.

Critical feedback largely focused on the fact that it was too similar to the original Tomb, but honestly, it’s hard to see it as criticism today. Both Tomb and Tomb 2 is an absolute joy to play, combining 2D platforming action with clever 3D lane-switching tricks.

There are some innovative RPG elements that are also firmly ahead of their time, so be sure to check out both games when they come out on PS5 and PS4!

Fear effect

  • You can find these Fear Effect Trophies here when they become available
  • PS5 Release Date: TBA 2025
  • Genre: Action adventure game

Tragic, Fear effect The franchise name has seen some rough love after the long-awaited third game in the series released on PS4 in 2018 to a brutal critical reception. So it looks like the series champions are going back to square one, this time releasing the original PS1 game on PS5 and PS4.

Originally released on PS1 in 2000, Fear effect was a stunning showcase of what cinematic action-adventure could look like on the PlayStation. While the controls may suffer by today’s standards, this classic definitely still has many strengths thanks to its expert direction and progressive cel-shaded art style.

Here’s hoping we get a platinum trophy to unlock when this one launches on PS5 and PS4, because that’s just the motivation we need to experience this PS1 gem again.

Combat Power and Combat Power 2

Both Fighting power and its continuation Combat Power 2 were developed for the PS1 by Core Design — the studio behind the first Tomb Raider games. With the studio having so much 3D gaming pedigree on the PS1, gamers expected the game to be a huge success. Fighting power games.

Instead, they got quite a mixed bag. First Fighting power was a basic 3D beat ’em up that lacked the flair and charisma of earlier examples of the genre such as Capcom The final fight. After that, the developers mixed up the shooting mechanisms Combat Power 2which made it play like a less exciting Sony version Siphon Filter.

So it’s safe to say that we’ll be bringing the two games together Collection of fighting forces it won’t be for the most interesting compilations of PS1 games on PS5 and PS4. Still, there’s plenty of new stuff to love when revisiting these Core Design titles today, so we’re still looking forward to giving them another spin in 2025.

Limited Run Games is doing a great job reviving old PS1 games with trophy support, but hopefully they’ll also get some PS2 games on PS5 and PS4 in the near future! Check out any of the classic PS1 games above? Let us know below in the comments.
