CyndaquilThe Pokémon Fire Mouse rushes in June Community Day Classic – recurrent Pokémon Go an event that celebrates a specific Pokemon and brings them back for another crack at Community Day glory! As with all Community Day events, it comes with a number of bonuses, including increased shiny rates and an exclusive move for its final evolution, Typhlosion!
Since Cyndaquil is a beginner Pokémon and thus a relatively rare spawn in Pokémon Go, outside of the occasional special event, this is a great chance to catch one and add all of its evolutions to your Pokédex—especially if you missed its first Community Day. event in 2018 and you want a Typhlosion with an exclusive move Blast Burn.
Typhlosion is still reasonable in Pokemon Go, but it’s far from the best mono-Fire type Pokemon in Go Battle League. Instead, this Community Day Classic is your chance to find the perfect Shiny Typhlosion if you’re still missing one!
Even if you’re not interested in Cyndaquil, you should still try to catch as many Pokémon as you can during the Community Day Classic event this week, as the double catch XP and double catch Stardust bonuses are running with the event.

Cyndaquil 100% perfect IV stats in Pokemon Go
This month’s Community Day Classic is a great opportunity to catch Cyndaquil with perfect IV stats.
“Perfect” means two things in Pokémon Go, depending on how you plan to use that Pokémon. First, there’s the max 100% IV version, which is the 15/15/15 you’re looking for for your 4* Pokédex, raids, and Master League. Still, because of how CP is calculated using three stats, a perfect IV Pokémon is generally only the best version of itself in the Master League.
Of course, you can’t see an IV Pokemon without catching it first, but with a little research beforehand, you can quickly find the perfect CP-only Cyndaquil.
If you’re level 30 (or higher), you’ll ideally be looking for the following CP for the perfect Cyndaquil 15/15/15:
The wild CP value is consistent with your trainer level until you reach level 30, and since most of the player base is now above that level, we’ve stuck with these values for simplicity. However, these values will be different if you are currently below level 30.

What is Cyndaquil evolving into?
Cyndaquil is pretty cool, in that it evolves into the Volcano Pokemon Quilava and then into Typhlosion. Both follow the theme of “what if I was bigger and had more fire coming out of my back”? Is this the most reasonable evolutionary line? No. Is that cool as hell? Absolutely.
Cyndaquil will evolve into Quilava with 25 Cyndaquil Candy. Quilava will evolve into Typhlosion with an additional 100 Cyndaquil Candy.
However, this starter Pokemon is also notable for having a branching evolution – Hisuian Typhlosion. This regional variant comes from the Hisui area (as you probably guessed). This is only available as a raid reward, so don’t go into this community day hoping to pick up this variant!

- Cyndaquil – Usually stays hunched over. If he is angry or surprised, he will shoot flames from his back. The fire that spews from his back burns hottest when he is angry. The flickering flames intimidate enemies.’
- Quilava – “Before battle, he turns his back on his opponent to show how wildly his fire blazes.” The fur covering this Pokemon’s body never burns, no matter what. It can deflect any kind of fire attack.”
- Typhlosion – ‘He has a stealthy, devastating move. He rubs his flaming fur and causes huge explosions. If his rage is at its peak, he becomes so hot that anything he touches immediately bursts into flames.’
- Hisuian typhlosion – ‘He says he will cleanse lost, abandoned souls with his flames and lead them to the afterlife. I believe his form was influenced by the energy of the sacred mountain rising in the center of Hisui.”
June’s Community Day Classic event takes place from 14:00 to 17:00 (local time), so you’ll have three hours to collect as many Cyndaquil Candy as possible to make sure you can fully evolve them!
Remember that having a Fire Mega Evolved Pokémon gives you one extra Cyndaquil Candy for every catch, so if you think you’ll be short on candy, grab a Mega Charizard, Mega Blaziken, or Primal Groudon for example!
Typhlosion moves and best move recommendations
Typhlosion’s best moveset is Incinerate, Blast Burn, and Thunder Punch. His full moveset is as follows:
Quick movements
- burn (fire)
- Shadow Claw (Ghost)
- ember (fire)
Loaded moves
- Thunder Punch (Electric)
- Sunbeam (grass)
- Overheating (fire)
- Fire Blast
Older charged moves
- Blast Burn (fire)
- Return (Normal)
It’s good to see that his best move is the Legacy move granted during this classic Community Day event. Just be aware that while Typhlosion and Shadow Typhlosion are decent Fire-type Pokémon, they still fall short of Talonflame, Skeledirge, and Charizard. If you need a strong Fire type attacker Big League and Ultra League and you don’t have these Pokemon, it might be worth going out of your way to find the perfect Cyndaquil.
Just be aware that while this is a spam Pokemon that puts both fast movement and shield pressure – all things we love – it has a few downsides. Notably, it’s less bulky than ideal and clumsy in using long attack animations. Still, if you can set up the shields and hit the right attack at the right time, Typhlosion could serve you well.

What do shiny Cyndaquil, Quilava and Typhlosion look like?
Shiny Cyndaquil in Pokemon Go released on its original Community Day in November 2018.
During the Community Day events, the shine level is increased, so catching a shiny Cyndaquil in the wild should be relatively easy.
Every Cyndaquil you see has the potential to be shiny, so it’s purely a numbers game – tap each one and see what you get. Good luck finding the Cyndaquil you need!
If you want to evolve your Cyndaquil into Quilava, you will need 25 Cyndaquil Candy, and you will need another 100 Cyndaquil Candy to evolve Quilava into Typhlosion.
As you can see below, the shiny Cyndaquil is pretty bland. He trades his bluish-green back and head for rusty brown. This change is preserved by evolution, which means that the regular version looks better than the shiny version. This is always disappointing to see.

Additional Cyndaquil Community Day Classic bonuses
Community Days in Pokémon Go always come with a number of bonuses, and Cyndaquil Community Day is no different.
Some of these bonuses are always the same – like increased spawns and shiny rates. However, there is a rotating set of additional bonuses for Community Days, such as a double or triple Candy, Stardust or XP catch. This means Community Day Classics have fewer bonuses than regular Community Day events.
Here is the full list of Cyndaquil Community Day bonuses below:

- Special research – For $1.00 or the equivalent price level in your local currency, you can participate in the Cyndaquil Special Research story.
- Stickers – Earn event-themed stickers by spinning PokéStops, opening gifts, and from the in-game store.
- Exclusive move – Evolve Cyndaquil during the event to get Typhlosion, which knows the exclusive Blast Burn (Fire-type charged move).
