Tax cheats in the Midlands have been named and shamed in an updated list published by HMRC. The list, published quarterly, is intended to deter tax evaders, with any evader risking having their name published.
The updated list includes a number of businesses and people in the Midlands who collectively owe HMRC thousands of pounds. The list includes former pub and small shop owners, as well as bathroom fitters and trucking companies.
A person or business appears on the list if they willfully underpaid more than £25,000 in tax at least once. The list is updated every three months and data on defaulters are deleted after a year. All details are correct at time of writing according to HMRC.

Midlands businesses accused of tax evasion
Simply Plant Sales Limited
The Stafford agricultural contracting firm, formerly based in Dunston Business Village, owes a whopping £4,742,310 in unpaid tax. HMRC ordered the firm to pay £3,319,617.
NGS Samra Limited
The takeaway, based in Whitchurch Road, Shrewsbury, which previously traded as Star Fish Bar, owes £57,111.84 in unpaid tax for April 2020-2022. The company was ordered to pay the full amount back as a penalty from HMRC.
Kongo Restaurant Limited
This Nottingham restaurant, trading as ‘The Kongo’, owes £33,814 in unpaid tax. The company was ordered to pay the full amount back as a penalty from HMRC.
Stanwyck Fish Bar Limited
Formerly trading as ‘Stanwyck Fish Bar’, this chippy in Sutton Hill, Telford, owes £29,969.57 in unpaid taxes. HMRC fined the company £19,480.
D&S Trans Ltd
The Nottingham-based transport service owes £27,451 in tax. HMRC ordered them to pay a penalty of £16,333.53.
Petru Trans Limited
Freight forwarders Petru Trans Limited owe £26,974 in unpaid tax. HMRC imposed a penalty of £24,950.
Monkmoor Bathrooms Ltd
Shrewsbury-based bathroom fitters Monkmoor Bathrooms owe HMRC £93,371.82 in unpaid tax between August 2010 and July 2016. They were fined £53,688.77.
Auto George Ltd
The Coventry firm, which previously traded as ‘George’s Autos’, owes £28,778.32 in tax. They were fined £25,900.48.
Sharcc Limited
Cannock, formerly trading as ‘The Hen House’, a former public house in Hednesford, owes £26,243.43 in unpaid tax from April 2020 to April 2021. The company was ordered to pay the full amount back as a penalty from HMRC.
Midlands people charged with tax evasion
Paul Martin Atkins
Paul Atkins, of 28 Billing Road, Coventry, CV5 8EU, owes £69,608.35 in unpaid tax for construction work. HMRC fined him £36,544.
Robert Balog
Robert Balog, formerly of 6 Grantham Street, Coventry, CV2 4FP, avoided £30,825.20 in tax as a packer. He was fined £20,498.75.
Steven Antony Jones
Mr Jones, from Derby, who previously traded as ‘Swiss Cottage’, owes £62,815 in unpaid tax. HMRC fined him £29,092.
Jasbinder Singh
Dentist Jasbinder Singh, formerly of 2 Kingston Road, Coventry, avoided tax of £53,528.56. He owes HMRC £22,654.43 in penalties.
Richard Campbell
Mr Campbell, formerly of 57 Church Road, Nuneaton, owes HMRC £38,101.41 in unpaid property tax between April 2012 and April 2016. He was fined £19,336.44.
Keiren James Parsons
Bricklayer Keiren Parsons, of Edward Street, Stoke on Trent, owes £27,1774.10 in tax. He was fined £18,070 by HMRC.
