A woman who was kicked and verbally abused by a stranger on the subway says other passengers did nothing to help.

Scarlett Owens, 23, was traveling from London to Liverpool on June 10, 2024 to meet her family when the incident happened.

She was sitting on the Northern Line when she claims a man stepped on top of her and “burned” her in the leg, completely out of the blue.

She claims a man she had never seen before started shouting at her but she couldn’t understand him because of his ‘thick accent’.

Scarlett said the incident brought her to tears and she is “still in shock” about what happened.

She reported it to British Transport Police, who are investigating.

Now Scarlett says she is afraid to get the tube herself because she fears a similar incident will happen.

Scarlett, an influencer manager from Tooting, south London, said: “I was just sitting by myself.

“It wasn’t busy when this guy got on the train, kicked my leg and started shouting at me for no reason.

“When the train started, he got off the train a bit and continued verbally harassing me.

“I have a bruise on my leg.

Earlier this month, Scarlett was traveling from London to Liverpool before going on holiday when she hopped on the Northern line.

She was on the hose for about 10 minutes before she claims a man stepped on top of her and kicked her.

Scarlett claims he then continued to verbally abuse her until he got off the subway a few stops later.

Scarlett said: “I don’t even know how long it went on, I was completely frozen and it was a whirlwind.

“I couldn’t understand what he was saying because he had a strong foreign accent.

“He didn’t look drunk because he was very composed and not buzzing at all.

The incident brought Scarlett to tears, she claims no one on the hose offered to help her and instead sat and watched.

Scarlett said: ‘Nobody came to see if I was OK.

“I made eye contact with the man across from me and he just shrugged.

“I don’t expect anyone to do anything because it happened so quickly and I understand that no one wants to be involved, but even after it happened, everyone acted like it was normal.

“At that moment, the adrenaline kicked in and I went down the train and cried.

“When I got off the train I went straight to my flat (in Liverpool), I was acting normal but I was in complete shock.

“My family was shocked and saddened to learn about the incident.

“I was still wary of taking public transport alone, but now I feel it even more.

As soon as she got home, Scarlett contacted British Transport Police, who sent her a form to fill out, but she says she has yet to hear back.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Officers are investigating reports of physical and verbal abuse on board the Northern Line at around 8pm on 10 June.

“The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
