Valorant update 9.00 patch notes: Iso nerf, new Premier division, Competitive on consoles, more

Valorant patch 9.00 is here and finally puts Episode 9 Act 1 into motion. It also slightly nerfs Iso and introduces a new split for the Premier game mode. Below is a complete overview of the Valorant update 9.00 patch notes.

Iso was one of the Duelists that was greatly improved in patch 8.11. Unlike what it was after his release, this buff made him a formidable ranked agent – a complete rise from the ashes arc. With patch 9.00, the Duelist from China is a little nervous after starting to see a rise in wins.

Premier mode gets a new Invite division and changes the qualification requirements for VCT Challengers. You can also finally start playing Valorant Competitive mode on consoles.

Valorant update 9.00 patch notes

Starting with patch 9.00, Iso Double Tap’s duration is reduced to 12 seconds from 20 seconds, and its Signature kill reset will also be removed.

On consoles, Sova’s Owl Drone has a health buff where it is now 100 from 60. A new map, Abyss, joins the ranked map pool.

The Premier’s new Invite division will introduce strict protection against matchweek rematches. This prevents you from sometimes fighting the same team more than once in a stage.

If you don’t find a match during the queue window, you get a Bye – and each Bye is a match win plus 100 points. Losses will be awarded 0 points and the playoff finals will be played in Best of 3 matchups.

Below are the full Valorant 9.00 patch notes from Riot Games.

Update agents

ALL PLATFORMS

  • We have added new conversational voice lines between agents which include: Phoenix, Harbor, Brimstone, Yoru, Raze, Iso, Sage, Neon, Gekko, Skye, Deadlock, Omen, Kayo and Reyna.

pc

Isa

We’re happy that Iso has become more comfortable leading his team, but we want to increase the consideration and context when Iso activates his Double Tap. This should make counterplay around breaking his shield or denying Double Tap orbs more successful.
So we’re shortening the duration of his Double Tap buff while also removing the refresh that comes with securing two kills. Iso can now extend Double Tap only by shooting orbs that appear while the buff is active.

  • Double tap (E): Length: 20s >>> 12s
    • Removed signature kill reset

CONTROL PANEL

  • Sova’s Owl Drone’s HP is now 100, up from 60.

Competitive updates

pc

  • Abyss added to rated map pool.

  • Competitive Mode is coming to console this patch! Queue up and see if you can climb the ranks and reach the ranks of the Immortals. Good luck in your first Radiant race!
  • Our competitive map pool will start with Abyss, Ascent, Bind, Haven, and Sunset, with new maps slowly added over the next few patches.

Game systems update

    • As your initial control scheme, you can now choose between our VALORANT-specific control preset or the more familiar, TRADITIONAL console FPS preset.
    • You can easily change your preference and customize the controls at any time in the game through the Settings menu.
  • Polished audio transitions between Focus and ADS to better reflect the state of the target you are transitioning to.
  • Crosshair presets have been updated to reflect a better range of usable crosshairs.
  • Updated the Fighter preset so that Crouch is a Hold action instead of a Toggle action.
  • Added a holistic Aim Sensitivity slider.
  • Added ability to enter precision mode in controls settings and adjust sensitivity sliders in 0.1 increments.

Player behavior update

Premier update

pc

Welcome to Path to Pro!

  • Teams in Contender that got promoted in Stage E8A3 are in the new Invite Division, where finishing the Stage at a high enough position will give you the opportunity to enter the Challengers League.
  • The Contender and Invite Division play a little differently:
    • Strict rematch protection in weekly matches prevents you from ever facing the same team more than once in a stage.
    • If we don’t find a suitable match for you during the queue window, you’ll get a bye. Byes award a match win and 100 points.
    • 0 points are awarded for losses.
    • The finals in the playoffs are Best of 3 matchups.
    • Some additional roster restrictions apply to Contender and Invite Division teams.

Social updates

pc

  • When you add a friend, you can now paste or type the full Riot ID (including tagline) into the “Riot ID” field and it will automatically split the data into the “Riot ID” and “description” fields.

Known issues

General

  • CONTROL PANEL
    • There is a chance that your controls will lock up for the entire round while navigating the Surrender menus. Because of this, we’ve decided to disable the Surrender and Remake offers until we can properly fix the issue. Draw will remain functional.

Premier

  • pc
    • Changing the Stage in the dropdown list on the rank page does not refresh the content. To see the exact order of past stages, change the stage, then change the partition or zone and the content will update.
    • The standings page sometimes doesn’t update and you may see fewer teams than expected. Click on another tab in Premier Hub and then go back in order to fix the problem.
    • If you are in a Contender or Invite competition and are awarded a bye during the weekly matches, you will not see that match recorded on your Premier Match History tab. You get the win and 100 Premier Score as expected, which is correctly reflected in the ranking.
