The most expensive pint of Wetherspoons in Scotland can be found in Edinburgh, a new survey has revealed.
But curiously, the capital is also home to one of the cheapest pints the chain pours. Research by Stocklytics looked at the average cost of Carling, Budweiser, Guinness, Heineken, Peroni and Stella in each branch.
As reported by the Scottish Daily Express, the average price of the cheapest pint is around £3.19, with Edinburgh bucking the trend at one of its most popular venues. The city is home to the most expensive pint in the UK, with the average alcoholic drink at the Walter Scott pub at Edinburgh Airport setting you back a whopping £6.80.
However, when examined by region, Lothian had the cheapest pint at £3.42 on average, while Clackmannanshire came second at £3.65. Once named one of the ‘best’ in the world, there’s one spoon in a leafy suburb of Edinburgh that offers a low-cost alternative and is also a great place to visit.
The Foot of The Walk site on Constitution Street has the lowest price in town and a pint of Carling can be had for just £2.58. Leith is one of the biggest up-and-coming areas in the city and has undergone significant regeneration in recent years and is now a busy port frequented by cruise ships. It also has a number of tourist attractions, including the Ocean Terminal shopping center and the Royal Yacht Britannia.

It is accessible by tram from Haymarket train station with stops at Balfour Street (Leith Walk), Foot of the Walk (Constitution Street), The Shore (Constitution Street), Port of Leith and Ocean Terminal. The Royal Yacht Britannia is the Queen’s former royal residence, now a five-star visitor attraction.
It is also home to a number of Scottish Government offices and a number of new pubs and restaurants. The area also has a unique claim to fame as the venue for the 2003 MTV Europe Music Awards, which brought the likes of Beyonce and Justin Timberlake to town.
Leith was named the fourth ‘coolest borough in the world’ by Time Out in 2021 and will soon boast the UK’s only vertical whiskey still at the Port of Leith Distillery. It also became famous after being name-checked in the iconic Proclaimers song Sunshine on Leith, which became a musical and then a feature film.
Time Out described it as “once Scotland’s main trading port, Leith’s links with industry go back centuries. Today, however, Edinburgh’s Northern Quarter is better known as a cultural hotspot, home to major arts institutions and emerging businesses.” “
Local author Irvine Welsh showcased some of the area’s darker sides in his famous novel Trainspotting and its prequel Skagboys, which led to two films. BBC’s hit Scottish drama Guilt is also set in Leith, with the show written by former resident Neil Forsyth and starring local lads Mark Bonnar and Jamie Sives.
