ForbesToday’s NYT “Connections” Tips and Answers for Sunday, June 30

Hey everyone! Welcome to the start of a new week! Somehow we are already halfway through 2024. The first half of the year was good for me. We hope it continues and that the rest of 2024 is great for you too.

today’s RIVET Connection hints and answers keep coming.

How to play hookup

in Connection, you will see a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by finding the links between them. Groups can be things like horror movie franchises, type of verbs, or rappers.

There is only one solution to each puzzle, and you’ll need to be careful about words that may fall into more than one category. You can mix up the words so you might see connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to detect, the blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the hardest to deduce. The purple group often includes puns, so keep that in mind.

Select four words that you think go well together and hit submit. If you guess and are not wrong, you will lose a life. If you’re close to getting the group right, you might get a message saying you’re one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still have to figure out which one to replace.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with a few tips, and if you’re really struggling, today’s Connection answers.

This is your last warning!

today’s Connection the answers are…

  • Yellow group — shows the way (DIRECT, GUIDE, LEAD, USHER)
  • Green Group — Scheme (CON, HUSTLE, RACKET, STING)
  • Blue group — seen on US dollar bill (EAGLE, PYRAMID, SEAL, WASHINGTON)
  • Purple Group – First word of Canadian provinces/territories (BRITISH, NORTHWEST, NOVA, PRINCE)

My second loss in a row was frustrating because a) it’s Canada Day and it should have worked and b) it’s the country I live in. Now I’m afraid they won’t let me back after my vacation.

I spotted STING, USHER, and PRINCE right out of the gate, but I didn’t see another mononymous singer going with them. I then turned my attention to the greens but made the mistake of putting the PYRAMID first instead of the STING. I fixed it for my first group.

Then I found the yellow ones before I got into trouble. I had no idea about blue or purple. NOVA should have been enough as an allusion to the latter. But after a few random guesses my luck ran out.

That’s all for today Connection clues and answers. Be sure to check out my blog for hints and solutions for Tuesday’s game if you need them.

PS I went to a very fun show on Friday with The Darkness (a band I love deeply) and the always fun Busted. So let’s go with my favorite song from the latter to start this week.
