Samsung smart ring features leaked ahead of alleged Galaxy launch next week, including stress tracking and snoring detection

Features on Samsung’s brand new smart ring have reportedly leaked ahead of next week’s Galaxy blockbuster launch.

Samsung’s latest piece of innovative technology is set to impress potential buyers with jewellery, which is able to monitor the wearer’s stress levels, detect snoring and even measure skin temperature.

The little silver gadget is expected to be unveiled publicly for the first time at Samsung Unpacked on July 10 in Paris – with many eyeing the ring as the future of wearable technology.

The Korean electronics giant is set to release the Galaxy Ring later this year.

Images of the ring were first revealed via a teaser in February.

It looks like a men’s wedding ring with a metal exterior and a black interior ring with sensors that monitor your body’s daily health.

The Galaxy Ring will be able to do a number of smart things through a large number of sensors, tech moguls tell Android Authority.

Similar to most other fitness gadgets, the ring will measure users’ heart rate and stress levels.

Both key figures are easy to find in Samsung Health app that is compatible with the ring.

The daily data will likely be displayed in the form of a bar graph with the app telling you where your levels are compared to previous days.

In order to activate the stress and heart rate monitors, users will need to sit still while wearing the ring and measure the clicks.

Samsung has also tried to make the ring stand out from what else is available in the highly competitive tech market.

A trio of other features are said to come with the fitness tracker, including skin temperature measurement, snoring detection and, for women, period prediction.

Some stats will require the phone to upload data from the ring – similar to Samsung watches.

Ring a watches will form a collection of gadgets on Samsung Health.

Hon Pak, Samsung’s vice president and head of the digital health team, said the health app has around 64 million monthly active users.

Then, he also hopes that first-time buyers will not only look at purchasing the ring when it finally becomes available, but also pair it with the watch.

He added: “I want to be able to have other forms of wearables to measure health.

“And some want to wear a watch, some want to wear a watch and a ring and benefit from both. Some just want more simplicity.”

Samsung may have tough competition on the horizon from its biggest rival in Apple.

Recent reports claim that the mega tech company is working on its own smart ring device.

The US-based company filed for a patent for a “wearable electronic ring” back in 2019, and little has been known about it since then.

But a new report from Korean outlet ET news suggests that Apple could be developing a ring that should be launched in the near future.

A Samsung spokesperson said: “We strive to provide the smoothest and most intuitive consumer experiences possible for our wearable users, and we feel that the best way to do this is within the Android ecosystem.”

Interestingly, Samsung has announced that the ring will not be compatible with Apple products such as the iPhone.
