Push Square Readers 20 Most Anticipated PS5 Games for the Second Half of 2024

Since there were so many games to choose from, we decided to collect 20 of the best for this article. In descending order, the following are…

20. Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars – 71 votes (1%)
19. Ys X: Nordics – 72 votes (1%)
18. Dragon Ball: Sparkle! Zero – 74 votes (1%)
17. Sonic X Shadow Generations – 80 votes (1%)
16. EA Sports College Football 25 – 86 votes (1%)
15. Visions of Mana – 90 votes (1%)
14. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 – 99 votes (2%)
13. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – 100 votes (2%)
12. Life Is Strange: Double Exposure – 130 votes (2%)
11. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake – 151 votes (2%)

10. The Plucky Squire – 176 votes (3%)

Plucky Squire has looked amazing since he was first revealed and it’s actually quite heartening to see him get so many votes. This is meant to be an incredibly inventive platforming adventure that takes place in both 2D and 3D space. We pray the game lives up to the lovingly crafted visuals.

9. Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 – 213 votes (3%)

Warhammer 40k Space Marines 2

The jump from The Plucky Squire to Space Marine 2 is about as jarring as it gets, but we suppose variety is the spice of life on the PS5. This third-person action shooter has been looking glorious and beautiful for a few months now, perfectly capturing the gritty aesthetic of Warhammer 40k. With a full campaign for single player or co-op, a standalone mission-based co-op mode, and even team PvP, we could be looking at one of the most robust releases of 2024.

8. LEGO Horizon Adventures – 283 votes (4%)

LEGO Horizon Adventures

Horizon is clearly a big deal here at PlayStation Nation, so it’s no big surprise to see its LEGO adaptation take a spot in the top ten. This light-hearted take on Aloy’s robot-hunting escapades could breathe unexpected life into the series, and we’re sure it’ll be full of fun ideas and cheeky nods to the main games.

7. Metaphor: ReFantazio – 292 votes (4%)

Metaphor ReFantazio

Atlus’ new RPG is shaping up to be special, and its placement on this list suggests expectations are understandably high. A weird and potentially awesome fantasy adventure, the previews for this adventure have been overwhelmingly positive. With a striking art style (what else would you expect?) and a whole host of RPG mechanics in the style of Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, it’s hard to imagine a future where Metaphor it isn’t a guaranteed hit with fans of this genre.

6. Dragon Age: The Veilguard – 294 votes (4%)

Dragon Age The Veilguard

Coming in at number six on this list, Dragon Age: The Veilguard says a lot about how opinions can change. The game’s reveal trailer was nothing short of a disaster, but BioWare worked hard to turn things around, showing a decent gameplay demo before dropping a bunch of great-sounding details. Look, The Veilguard isn’t going to be a throwback to the grand old days of Origins or even Dragon Age 2, but its focus on action combat and a more mission-based structure could lead to the kind of refresh the series needs.

5. Silent Hill 2 – 330 votes (5%)

Silent Hill 2

Would a brand new Silent Hill game be fifth on this list? We’re not so sure — but that’s the power of remasters and remakes. Silent Hill 2 is clearly a household name, and while there are still questions about the remake’s tone and atmosphere, it’s clear that horror fans are eager to relive the classic. Here’s hoping Bloober Team, with Konami playing the role of overseer, gives the original release the retread it deserves.

4. Assassin’s Creed Shadows – 423 votes (6%)

Assassin's Creed Shadows

With Assassin’s Creed Mirage returning the series to its roots last year, now is the time for Assassin’s Creed Shadows to move the series forward again. We finally take players to feudal Japan – one of the most, if not the most and the most requested setting of Assassin’s Creed — Shadows should be another immersive open world adventure. With two playable characters that offer distinct play styles, there’s the potential for this to be Ubisoft’s most innovative historical escapade in quite some time.

3. Black Myth: Wukong – 492 votes (7%)

The Black Myth of Wukong

Once considered little more than a tech demo that would never actually grow into a full game, Black Myth: Wukong is real – and its release isn’t far off. An action game that is based on The road to the west, Wukong has been looking stunning for a long time. Even better, those who have actually played it say it’s great – a fairly challenging but super satisfying brawler that’s teeming with perfectly designed enemies. It’s no surprise that it ranks so high on this list.

2. Star Wars Outlaws – 539 votes (8%)

Star Wars Outlaws

Two games from Ubisoft in the top five? The French publisher must be doing something right. Just whatever Star Wars logo will always be popular, but it sure helps that the Outlaws look the part. This is the first proper open world Star Wars a game that offers an adventure that spans multiple planets and includes all kinds of gameplay mechanics. Now, while there’s a chance that Outlaws will end up feeling a little… tired in its structure, we can see the visual and exploratory freedom of the place doing a lot of heavy lifting.

1. Astro Bot – 1,163 votes (18%)

Astro Bot

Well, it was hardly a contest after all. Astro Bot absolutely destroyed the other games on this list, garnering over 1,000 votes while everything else was struggling to garner even half. The Asobi team is finally making a full PS5 platformer with the popular little robot at the helm, and the hype is palpable. It may not be the mega-budget, AAA, PS5-exclusive blockbuster that Sony usually saves for the later months of the year, but Astro Bot could be pure joy for PlayStation Studios from start to finish.
