Shoppers are ditching expensive Samsung, Apple and Google tablets in favor of more affordable Amazon

Lenovo’s tablet, which costs less than £100, has been praised by shoppers for having “better screen quality” than Samsung’s and is easy to set up.

As a tech journalist, I’m always on the hunt for the latest and greatest from Apple, Samsung and Google, attending events to get my hands on the latest AI smartphone, the most responsive laptop or the fastest chip. But when I go out, I often look for a deal that will save money.

I recently came across a deal with Amazon that was too good to pass up. It was so affordable that I put aside any thoughts of upgrading to a fancy Samsung or Apple tablet in favor of a cheaper alternative. And it costs under £100.

The Lenovo Tab M10 is currently priced at £99 as part of an early Amazon Prime Day deal. If you’re like me and just need a basic tablet to watch your favorite Disney+ shows, browse social media, or do administrative work, this could be the perfect solution.

Plus, unlike many budget tech offerings that feature older models, this 10-inch tablet is only two years old, reports the Manchester Evening News. Apple’s brand new iPad Pro 2024 and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S9 range are incredibly tempting, but at over £799, this flagship might not be in everyone’s budget.

There are also mid-range options, such as the Google Pixel 11 tablet, which can be picked up for around £399. Despite its affordable price tag, the Lenovo Tab M10 comes with Android 11 software, which puts it just two versions behind the latest Android 13 seen on the new Google Pixel tablets. It also boasts a decent 32GB of internal storage, which I think is pretty reasonable considering its budget cost.

This model also features Wi-Fi 5 and 3GB of RAM, reflecting its sub-£100 price tag. However, the screen quality of the device is where you will notice the difference. Instead of a glossy high-definition and ultra-high-definition display, the Lenovo tablet offers a 10-inch FHD.

The Lenovo M10 tablet proves that you don’t have to drop hundreds of pounds on a new device

While this size is plenty for comfortably streaming your favorite shows and movies, Full High Definition is a step down from market leaders like Apple’s iPads and Samsung’s Tab S9. But let’s be honest, what more can you expect for £99?

As a technical writer, I would definitely recommend this tablet if you’re on a budget. And it seems many recent buyers would agree. One satisfied Amazon customer even claimed it was “better than my previous Samsung” and praised its “excellent screen quality and RAM storage.”

They added: “I have a drawer full of old Samsung tablets that aren’t worth fixing. I wanted something cheap and cheerful for my online shopping hobby. A Lenovo tablet is perfect to have on hand.”

One happy customer said: “Bought this for my 89 year old mum. Nice easy to use settings made easy too with backup to her email. Good and much cheaper than some competitors with lower specs.” Another happy shopper who bought it for his young son commented: “Camera is good, long battery life for playing games with my son. Really good and doesn’t take long to change.”

Free Amazon Prime Membership

Do you like free delivery? Access to Deliveroo Plus is one of the many benefits of being an Amazon Prime member, including exclusive Prime Day discounts and benefits on Hello Fresh, music, books and Prime Video. Normally £8.99 a month, you can now get a 30-day free trial to access the latest offers.

Given its bargain price of £99, there were inevitably some negative reviews. A common complaint was ‘slow’ performance from users running numerous apps: “Very disappointed with this tablet. Slow to boot, slow to open apps and the main one I bought it for (Prime Video) has a black screen when trying to load. Did a factory reset and reinstalled apps still the same.”

The deal coincides with Amazon announcing its July 2024 Prime Day, which will run on July 16 and 17 and offer 48 hours of discounts on hundreds of products. It also sparked a wave of first-time deals, including low-cost Samsung cell phones.
