The current Helldivers 2 Major Order was interesting. It seemed suspiciously easy for the first few days, as little input was needed to keep the X-45 under control of the Super Earth. Then a strategic alert diverted our attention and moved to another sector, allowing the automatons to attempt to retake the new jungle planet. However, this did not last long and was again successfully liberated.

After its defense, another strategic alert was sent out, revealing a weapons cache containing a Commando rocket launcher. This is a quad rocket launcher leaked after the Viper Commandos Warbond and is based on the iconic weapon used by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie Commando.

A strategic alert revealed that the weapon would be available for use on the X-45 for the rest of the Major Order before it was released.

“The Advanced Weapons Lab excavation on X-45 recovered an intact cache of a lost support weapon from the First Galactic War: the MLS-4X Commando rocket launcher. These weapons will be immediately used to defend the planet. All X-45 defense operations will be augmented by MLS-4X commandos until the end of the current order.”

Unfortunately, when the X-45 is successfully defended and at 100%, there is no way to use the weapon at this point until the Major Order ends. Once this is over in less than 24 hours, the Commando Rocket Launcher will be available to unlock in the Stratagems section of your ship using request slips. Until then, if the planet is invaded by automatons again, players will be able to jump in and try out the new weapon. Many players will be hoping that the robot army has another fight in them, as the Commando rocket launcher has been a hit so far.

Players took to Reddit to share their thoughts on the new Commando launcher coming to Helldivers 2, with U/Marketplacehero saying, “It was a nice surprise. They thought they were giving us a spear, but instead they got a brand new weapon. He destroys the factory workers but fires two shots to take out the turrets. I noticed that when I picked up the ammo it wouldn’t load. I think it will replace the EAT-17 if you compare the call in time and the number of missiles you get.”

It seems to do less damage than the EAT-17. But with four rockets, it could become more useful and a strategy for players because you can use it on multiple targets. This is why I use a recoilless rifle, but it can be set up as a substitute.

U/Nami_Makes_Me_Wet shared some tips and strategies for the Commando Rocket Launcher and why it could become a part of the Helldivers 2 meta. aim for weak points so you can hit walkers in the face and dropships in the engine), the overall output seems better. Aiming also means you’ll probably be able to hit chargers much more reliably than a spear, same goes for bile titan faces,” they said.

“Four shots is also enough to clear out most bot bases, especially since you don’t need to cover vents and anything up to medium insect hives, meaning you only need one more teammate or some eagles to do the job.”

It will be interesting to see how the Commando Rocket Launcher holds up when used in various missions against Automatons and Terminids, but so far it looks incredibly promising. I’m sure many players are happy that these are not the anti-tank mines that Arrowhead Game Studios has been trying to give the community for many months.
