Scotland’s best and worst holiday parks beat Center Parcs as the ‘perfectly relaxing’ choice

The best and worst holiday parks in Scotland have been named by consumer watchdog Which?.

Scots across the country will want to head out for a few days of fun in the sun with their families. However, it can be difficult to know which theme parks and resorts are worth visiting.

New message from Which? ranked holiday parks in Scotland and Great Britain by customer satisfaction score. Looking at the results, one lesser-known park brand in Scotland is more popular with visitors than heavyweights such as Center Parcs or Butlin’s.

Forest Holidays is Scotland’s most popular holiday park provider, according to experts. The brand, which has Scottish sites in Ardgartan in Argyll, Glentress Forest in Peebles and Strathyre in Stirling, received an overall customer score of 80 per cent.

Customers who were surveyed gave Forest Holidays an average rating of four out of five for overall customer service, cleanliness, quality of accommodation, facilities and communication. A stay in one of its parks will cost you an average of £63 per person per night.

The overall verdict of Who? described Forest Holidays as “ideal for a relaxing nature holiday”, although he noted that “accommodation in a hot tub adds to the cost”. One guest said: “Maybe not a holiday for everyone looking for constant entertainment and activities like [at] Center Parcs. However, if you like long walks with your dog through woods and quiet paths, hill walks, cycling or just a bit of peace and quiet, it’s ideal.”

Second to Scotland on Who?’s is Hoseasons, which received a customer score of 74 per cent. The holiday provider, which has dozens of parks and lodges across the country, was rated four out of five for its value for money, cleanliness and quality of accommodation.

Conversely, Largo Leisure Parks and Away Resorts were both named the worst in Scotland with customer scores of just 64 per cent. While the former did not receive a specific rating, the latter scored three out of five for cleanliness, quality of accommodation and communication, and two out of five for entertainment, amenities, food and drink, value for money and overall customer service.
