BenQ launches two new aggressively priced 4K laser gaming projectors

The world of projectors is no longer just about movies. A huge leap in both interest in games and the quality of game graphics in recent years has seen more and more gamers turning to projectors to take their immersion in gaming worlds to a whole new level. BenQ is at the forefront of catering to this new gaming projection market, so it’s no surprise that the brand is expanding its range of gaming projectors with two new models: the TK710 and TK710STi.

What is surprising, however, is how aggressively priced these new DLP models are given the eye-catching specs they offer. The TK710 is set to retail at $1,799 / £1,349, while the RRP of the TK710STi is $1,999 / £1,599, although both models offer laser lighting systems, 4K playback (using DLP projection pixel shift technology) and the ability to play high definition games dynamic range. or video.

These main features are really only the beginning of the attractions of the TK710 and TK710STi. Both are said to deliver a high peak brightness of 3200 ANSI lumens, reflecting their positioning in the BenQ range as ‘casual’ gaming projectors designed for use in living room or spare room environments where removing all ambient light can be a problem.

In addition to video support for HDR10 and HLG formats, HDR gaming modes are available on both projectors to ensure gamers with HDR-capable consoles and PCs don’t have to stick with SDR to keep lag levels low.

In addition to helping the TK710 and TK710STi achieve their eye-catching brightness levels, their laser illumination systems essentially eliminate the need to constantly change lamps throughout the life of the projectors. BenQ claims a lifespan of 20,000 hours for each of the projector’s lasers – enough for 10,000 two-hour movies, or (surely) to satisfy even the most extreme Call Of Duty addiction.

As with other recent BenQ gaming projectors, the TK710 and TK710STi will both feature several dedicated gaming presets optimized for RPG and FPS game types, with input lag for both models claimed to be 16.7ms at 4K/60Hz. 4.2ms with 1080p/240Hz both projectors are impressively capable of handling.

The main difference between BenQ’s new pair of gaming projectors is that, as the ST part of the name suggests, the TK710STi features a short throw lens, so it can be placed in smaller rooms or perhaps closer to the screen in a regular room. so it’s not so close to your seats. To be more specific about this difference, where the TK710 can produce a 100-inch image when 8.4 feet from the screen and a 120-inch image from 10 feet, the TK710STi can produce a 100-inch image from five feet and a 120-inch image from six feet. The TK710STi also comes with an Android TV dongle that gives the projector built-in streaming capabilities.

“We recognize the need for dynamic, easy-to-use and versatile projectors,” says Houston Wei, senior director of BenQ North America. “With the TK710 and TK710STi, gamers and movie enthusiasts can experience stunning images and fast gaming in virtually any environment.”

Both new BenQ gaming projectors are available now from the brand’s own websites in the US and UK, as well as from other independent projector retailers.
