The hottest new workout is the best of both worlds—it can be done at home, and you don’t even have to clear your schedule to do it.

Does it sound too good to be true?

People now use wrist weights to carry out their full morning routine, which includes curling hair, applying makeup and even skin care.

Wrist weights can not only strengthen your arms, but also strengthen your heart muscle, in and of itself – meaning your heart rate can increase, leading to a more efficient workout.

The new phenomenon has taken over TikTok, with plenty of users showing off how they’ve modified their routines to include wrist weights.

Model and content creator Emily DiDonato took to TikTok this week to try out a hack that involved preparing and wearing a set of two-pound wrist weights.

Just this week, model Emily DiDonato took to the social media platform to try it out for herself — and admitted it was a lot harder than it looked.

She used two pounds of $65 wrist weights from the viral brand Bala Bangles and started by straightening her hair, which visibly took a toll on her.

But that’s not all—DiDonato then took out her curling iron and began curling each strand of hair.

Once her look was perfect, she ripped off the weights and tossed them to the floor, admitting in the caption that the billowing part of the prep almost “came out” with me.

In the comments section of the post, many people joked that they had already broken a sweat doing their own hair and makeup without the added wrist weights.

“I’ve already broken a sweat trying a licked ponytail. I wouldn’t survive,” wrote one user.

Another agreed: “I sweat enough doing my hair, ugh.” But so smart. Hahahah.”

“Genius but yeah curling I don’t think I’d survive I have a lot of hair,” someone else wrote.

Hair influencer Abigail Lin also twirled her one-pound wrist weights while blow-drying and curling her hair.

Of course, DiDonato isn’t the only one to try this trend.

It seemed to be quite a workout as she looked out of breath as she did it and even had to take a few breaks in between.

She also followed up by doing a smooth bun with a set of weights, which seemed to be more difficult than using a blow dryer.

TikTok creator Victoria Marano even attempted the task with the $6,000 Dyson Airwrap, which comes with several different styling bits.

She had to take a break from curling her hair as it was quite tiring and claimed that you shouldn’t let the two kilos fool you.

And while these weights can tone your arms, it’s important not to overdo it.

Dr. Haniel Hernandez, a physical therapist at Redefine Healthcare, told CNET that weights on the wrist can put additional stress on the joints.

“The most effective way to use them in exercise is to understand the phrase ‘less is more,'” the doctor said.
