Trecco Bay Holiday Park in Porthcawl, operated by Parkdean Resorts, is a firm favorite with holidaymakers in Wales and generally receives positive reviews. It also boasts the neighboring beach of Trecco Bay, which is known for its family atmosphere and excellent water quality.
However, some recent visitors have documented distressing experiences related to the unsanitary conditions in their caravans, which included the discovery of blood, faeces, hair and vomit. Despite these reports, the popular destination has a 4.3 star rating on Google, was awarded ‘Best Park Operator in the UK’ at the British Travel Awards 2013, holds a four star award from Visit Wales and a David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award.
There are more positive than negative reviews on the internet about the huge resort. However, there have been some negative reviews in recent weeks.

He who left a scathing review on Tripadvisor website under the handle zoesR25370 and complained about a few things and said they didn’t have a good experience at all. They claimed: “The caravan was disgusting, urine and blood stains, pubic hair on the mattresses, the cleaners had just spilled clean sheets, blood on the carpet, curtains, sofa and veranda. Stains all over the couch, hair and lint on the tub along with what looked like vomit.
“Hair in the shower. They were told they would get another accommodation, they didn’t have any, they were told the cleaner would be doing a deep clean, I scrubbed and cleaned everything myself the whole first night. Emma W shared photos of what appeared to be leaves with a brown substance. She wrote: “Stayed here with my husband, 8 year old son, 1 year old son and 11 week old son. When we first arrived the camper smelled like feces.”
She went on to describe a bin full of used diapers under the sink and a duvet covered in “old, smelly poo” that was hidden under a clean blanket, a photo of which she shared.
User Z5385JHtom also posted on Tripadvisor, staying there recently, and claimed: “The mobile outside is not very clean, but still with overflowing bins walking around smoking illegal substances and drinking alcohol.”
Tripadvisor user Vacationer115600 wrote: “Delivery was smelly, dirty tray left in oven, dirty. Dirty sofa and carpet. We even paid for an upgrade, I hate to think what the other van was like.
However, lots of people still have great things to say about the holiday park. Voyager783521 loved Burger King and said the manager Jack was ‘fantastic’. “The food is always fresh and good quality. By far the best burger king we’ve been to,” they wrote.
Tripadvisor reviewer Sharon P praised one member of staff named Abbie for the positive experience she had at the park; “Definitely not the first time my husband and I have been to Trecco Bay, however this is one of the first times we have left a review. Lovely young lady Abbie, served us at thunderbird, first time here and gave us her own personal recommendation.”
Sharon added that it was the “best meal” they had eaten in the park and praised the entire team, commenting: “All the staff there were very friendly and we will definitely be back to try some of the other options. offer.” She also added: “Big thanks also to Abbie who took some time out of her break to show me how to leave and thoroughly explained the process, hopefully she’ll be leaving more in the near future!”
Another happy customer recently wrote: “Overall the park is very clean and tidy, there was so much going on throughout the holiday, there wasn’t a day when we weren’t busy. The security staff were really helpful when we got lost. We went to the Showdome several nights during our holiday and the service was exceptional.
“The barman Dexter stood out the most, nothing was ever too much trouble for him, he was able to answer all my questions and provided top notch service throughout our stay. I would even say she made our holiday experience that much better. Also Chloe was excellent who served us most nights she provided service at the table and always served with a smile and brought all orders promptly. we will 100% return to Trecco Bay for another family vacation for a pleasant vacation.”
Corey F, who also reviewed the park a few days ago, wrote in his review: “My family and I have been here four times in the last eight years and Trecco Bay is still the best recreation park we have been to.”
