The First Descendant is a new free-to-play epic that has just arrived on consoles. It has quickly gained a huge player base and fans have a lot to look forward to between now and the end of the year. While players largely enjoy the core TFD experience, many of them First Descendant fans are divided over whether Nexon should add the controversial option to punish bad players.

As mentioned, there’s a lot to look forward to with TFD between now and the end of the year. First Descendant’s 2024 roadmap reveals all upcoming new content, including the release date of new playable character Luna. In addition, the developers have confirmed the upcoming addition of matchmaking for the public Operation Infiltration (Dungeon) in Hard Mode.

It is clear that the developer is listening to the feedback from the fans in an effort to improve the game better. One of the biggest problems in the community is bad players, and fans are divided on whether Nexon should add kick voting.

Fans of the first offspring were divided when it came to being able to vote for the kick

On The First Descendant subreddit, user 2Bord_ made a post titled “I take it back, make it possible to kick the vote”. In the OP’s post, they explained that they were originally against implementing a kick vote, but changed their minds “because there are so many damn AFKing leechers”.

While farming the Blair components all day, the OP said they encountered “AFKing leechers” almost every run. The OP elaborated: “Every now and then they’ll move slightly or randomly shoot once so they don’t timeout AFK. I understand that story dungeons are long and tedious, but it would be 200x faster if you could help instead of AFKing”.

AFKing players were a big deal in the community. In the replies, one user asked: “I don’t understand why there’s no point in people working hard in games like this?”, to which another user simply explained: “You get the same rewards as everyone else. if afk. People farm quest rewards, not random drops from enemies.”

While few in the comments are in favor of voting for the kick, many responses are strongly against this option because “It’s always used in a toxic way.” Opponents argue that kick voting would be used “more often to kick people for the character they play, their level or build than to kick actual people AFK”.

In the comments, there are comparisons to Helldivers 2. The shooter Arrowhead does not have a kicking voting system, but the host can kick the player, leading to many complaints that said system is being abused by toxic hosts.

As for how to solve the dilemma with AFK players, one user said that Nexon “needs to add some afk checks like button prompts, movement checks, or enemy damage checks. That and force afk messages”. Another user suggested: “Let us tag afk users. If they don’t move after 10s, they are kicked out”.

In addition to the above ideas, players have suggested that Nexon should follow in Warframe’s footsteps. According to the comments, you won’t get rewards for rounds that you AFK too much in Warframe, resulting in a much better and fairer player experience.
