Cornwall legend Scott ‘Pasty’ Pascoe has died and nobody can quite believe it

Cornwall is in mourning following the sad passing of an adored local legend with “the biggest heart he’s ever known” who “everyone knew”. Scott Pascoe – known even to his own mum Sandra as ‘Pasty’ – has died aged just 37.

Friends and family have poured their hearts out in memory and tribute to the “beloved” man who “would stop and talk to anyone”. The support worker has been confirmed dead at home in Redruth of a heart attack.




Social media was also full of tributes. One of Scott’s best friends, Kirsty Stevenson, contacted CornwallLive to share her family’s devastation. She said her daughter, Lilly Rose, five years old, who was Scott’s goddaughter, “worshipped the ground he walked on” and was his “pride and joy”.

Kirsty added that Scott lived with his fiancée Laura, who he called his ‘queen’ and also said: ‘Pasty was a well-known and well-loved man and would stop and talk to anyone. He had the biggest heart anyone had ever known, even when things went wrong in his life he was still there for others. He had so much love in his heart for his family and friends and loved all animals, bikes and cars a song for every mood from Enya to heavy metal to club music.

“Pasty was a gentle, caring, honest, polite man and a credit to his mother Sandra. He worshiped the ground she walked on. Every time he saw her he would kiss and cuddle her and tell her he loved her.” before the end of each interview.

“She made him the man he was and he was amazing. He was always so proud of who his mum was and he wouldn’t trade her for the world. She was everything to him, his true best friend. He loved his dad and when When I he couldn’t see, he would listen to his father’s favorite song, but he was always grateful for everything he did for him.

“Pasty had an older brother, Ryan, who he loved so much.

Kirsty also revealed more about how he ‘shared a lot of love’ with Lilly Rose, saying: ‘She was everything to him. He talked about her with everyone and did lots of first things with her like swimming and cycling. with her father, Ben, who was one of Pasty’s best friends.

“She loved when he came to pick her up from school. He was so proud of everything she did and she was so proud to call him her Uncle Pasty. He was her best friend and she will never forget his laugh , the cuddling and love they shared really had a wonderful and special bond.”

She added that his closest friends who “know who they are” were like family to him and he often said he “would be lost without them, they helped him through his darkest days and always showed how much they loved him”. “His friends played a big role in his life and when he was around their problems disappeared as soon as he walked into their house and said ‘ok my ansum’ or ‘ok bro’ it lit up the room and he just made You feel so light and single He was the best friend you could ever ask for and he will be missed so much.”

Scott trained as a chef with Jamie Oliver at the former Fifteen restaurant in Watergate Bay, near Newquay, and according to Kirsty, went on to work as a head chef in a number of Cornish restaurants, including head chef. He was later a well-liked and highly praised worker at McDonald’s before becoming a mental health carer and then a support worker – a job he “loved”.

Kirsty said he and Laura got together last year, “and we’ve never seen Pasty happier. They went on holidays together, ate out and even spent time snuggling on the sofa – it was magical, but he loved spending time with her. Her grandson him made complete and he loved his ‘queen’ so much to continue forever.”

She said he was also into “horror and ghost hunting”.

Kirsty added: “He had lots of quotes. His one for me was ‘you’ll do it girl’. He’s saved me so much and I can never thank him enough. We all love you so much Pasty and you will.” be forever in our heads and hearts, rest my friend until we see you again.”

Laura shared: “It is with a broken heart that I have to announce the passing of the most amazing man ever. I like to believe it was because his heart was so full of love it burst. Pasty was truly loved by all.”

Others shared their own memories and love for the man we will “never forget” with the outpouring showing how much and widely he was loved. Carly Jones wrote: “I had some great times with you, one of my closest friends for so long. I will never forget him and his kind heart. Scott died on July 4 and his funeral will be held at Treswithian Downs Crematorium in Camborne on July 23 at 10am. There will be no wake and in lieu of any flowers donations are being made to Cornwall Air Ambulance.
