Prime Day is finally here. From today until midnight on Wednesday 17 July, deep discounts on some of the best laptops of 2024 continue to drop left, right and centre, not to mention savings on everything from TVs and power tools to headphones, coffee makers and more.
While you may have already noticed a cheap laptop with a huge discount from an unknown brand appearing on sale, we recommend staying away from them. Laptops get some of the biggest price cuts during Prime Day, but don’t let the price fool you.

Apple isn’t known for participating in many sales, but you can still find small savings across a wide range of laptops. Here’s the best deal on the 13.6-inch version of the latest MacBook air, powered by the new M3 chip. Microsoft Surface laptop 5: Was £1,269, now £919.71, Amazon.co.uk
The Surface Laptop 5 features in our roundup of the best laptops of 2024, and with the latest model just announced, we’re seeing big savings on the still-excellent 2022 edition. Our tester was impressed with the slick user experience, saying, “While most other Windows laptops comes pre-installed with third-party apps and antivirus bloatware, Microsoft’s Surface laptops are much closer to an Apple-style user experience: clean, uncluttered, and easy to use.”

Asus makes some of the smartest looking Windows laptops and the zenbook 14 is no exception. The 2.8K display is impressive and offers a rich cinema-style image, while the Intel i5 processor is powerful enough to handle demanding tasks. Even though this model is over a year old, these are still excellent specs for a laptop costing less than £600.

Lenovo IdeaPad 1 Laptop: Was £299.99, now £203, Amazon.co.uk
A budget option from one of our top-rated laptop brands, the Lenovo IdeaPad 1 is about as basic as Windows laptops get. It’s powered by an entry-level Intel Celeron processor, offers a good selection of ports including a MicroSD card reader and an HDMI port, and a decent webcam for zoom calls. It’s ideal for typing, browsing the web, sending emails and working with spreadsheets.

Lenovo IdeaPad duet 3: Was £399.99, now £249.99, Amazon.co.uk
The Lenovo IdeaPad duet 3, a two-in-one Chromebook, detaches from the keyboard cover so you can use it as an 11-inch tablet. It runs on Chrome OS mobile, so you can’t use regular Windows apps here, but it can do everything your web browser can do, while giving you access to Google Play Store apps for more creative tasks like image editing. The top model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is currently £150 off on Prime Day.

When do the Prime Day laptop deals start?
Amazon has confirmed that this year’s Prime Day will run from Tuesday July 16 to Wednesday July 17, giving you two full days to find the best laptop deals on sale. However, if you’re itching to upgrade before then, we’ve rounded up the best deals available for laptops on Amazon right now.
Laptop deals we expect this Prime Day
Last year’s Prime Day sale brought discounts on the latest models from Lenovo, HP, Dell, Asus, Acer and more. In 2024, we expect these brands to return, this time focusing on their latest laptops running on the latest hardware specs.
Follow our list of the best laptops of 2024 to get an idea of what to look out for. We’re unlikely to see any serious discounts on the new MacBook air and MacBook pro, but we could see the likes of the Dell XPS 15 (£1,549, Amazon.co.uk ) or the Lenovo yoga slim 7 (£755.96, Amazon .co .uk) price drop.
Do you have to be a Prime member to access Prime Day deals?
Yes you do. The sale was originally created to entice customers to subscribe to Amazon’s monthly service, which unlocks a host of benefits, including unlimited next-day delivery, same-day delivery, exclusive discounts and early access to deals. You also get access to streaming services Prime Video and Amazon Music.
Amazon Prime costs £8.99 a month or £95 if you choose to pay for the whole year up front. Anyone who hasn’t tried the service can get a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime, which will give you access to all the juicy Prime Day deals starting July 16.
