Samsung One UI 6.1.1 update is coming to these Galaxy devices

Samsung has confirmed that One UI 6.1.1, the software that debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, will soon be coming to select Galaxy devices with a handful of new features.

Since launching One UI 6.0 on Android 14 last year, Samsung has also launched One UI 6.1, an AI-focused update that has expanded. But as is the company’s usual pattern, there is still one more update to Android 14.

Which Galaxy devices will get One UI 6.1.1?

Samsung via its forums (frequent tipster Tarun Vats shared a screenshot of the confirmation but chose not to share the link) that basically all of its flagship devices launched from 2022 will get One UI 6.1.1.

The list includes:

  • Galaxy S22/+/Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Fold 4
  • Galaxy Z Flip 4
  • Galaxy Tab S8 series
  • Galaxy S23/+/Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Fold 5
  • Galaxy Z Flip 5
  • Galaxy S23 FE
  • Galaxy Tab S9 series
  • Galaxy S24/+/Ultra

Compared to the launch of One UI 6.1 earlier this year, this is a larger list of confirmed devices, but Samsung has expanded the update (and AI features) far beyond the initial announcement. As such, we wouldn’t count out the Galaxy S21 lineup yet, or the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3. It’s also highly likely that this list only covers devices getting the new AI features, and that many more Galaxy devices will get One UI 6.1.1 in general .

But what exactly is new in this update?

What new features does One UI 6.1.1 include?

One UI 6.1.1 comes out of the box on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, and overall it’s a fairly minor update. There are some new AI features as well as a larger watermark for AI creations and some new features.

In a post, Samsung confirms which new features are coming in One UI 6.1.1.

First, they include new artificial intelligence features. “Portrait Studio” can turn pictures of a person into caricatures and sketches, while “Sketch to Image” can create an AI-generated image from a rough hand-drawn sketch, and even add it to an existing image. “Live Effect” can also change 2D image to 3D image.

In “Editor”, Samsung adds support for “Motion Clipper”, which can turn a motion photo into a GIF by long-pressing an image, while “Cut” can crop a photo by long-pressing it.

In terms of translation features, Samsung now supports overlays with translation features for text or images.

One UI 6.1.1 will also bring Expert RAW support to the Galaxy Z Flip 6 (the first Flip to do so), and Expert RAW will include image quality improvements for brightness, noise and more.

Some of these features are only available on select devices, but most are available on the Galaxy Z Fold 4/Flip 4, Z Fold 5/Flip 5, Galaxy S22/S23/S24 series, Galaxy S23 FE, and Galaxy Tab S8/S9. series.

When will One UI 6.1.1 be available?

As for when this new update will go live, there is no firm timeline yet. As mentioned, this is available out of the box on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, but we suspect it may take a month or two to roll out.

For context, Samsung announced the One UI 6.1 update for the device like the Galaxy S23 in mid-February, but the update wasn’t widely available until April.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 are now available for pre-order with up to $1,200 cash back, double the free storage and more. You can also get up to $150 more with our Galaxy Z Fold 6 link on Samsung.com.

Samsung is starting to ship its new foldable device, as well as the Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Buds 3 (and Buds 3 Pro), Galaxy Watch 7, and Galaxy Watch Ultra on July 24.
