If you’re looking for a TV with the best possible picture for watching movies and playing video games, then you’ll be hard-pressed to find many TVs better than OLED TV Samsung S90C from 2023, especially for the price.

The 65-inch version usually retails for $2,599. Amazon usually sells it for $1,997. And for Prime Day, The Samsung S90C OLED is on sale for $1,597 (very close to the all-time low we saw for it at $1,497).

There is a consensus in the TV industry and among TV reviews that OLED TVs generally have better picture quality than the various versions of LCD TVs – LED, QLED and Mini LED are the latest versions – due to their superior contrast, dynamic range and colour. intensity and the ability to reproduce the deepest black parts of the image.

The Samsung S90C OLED TV is last year’s model and is in the process of being replaced by 2024. S90D (on sale for $1,797 on Prime Day), but there’s very little difference between the two models. The 2024 version is slightly brighter, but you will only notice this if you put two TVs side by side or if you place the TV in a very bright room.

Another thing to keep in mind about the S90C is that it’s Samsung’s mid-range OLED. The top model from 2023 is S95C. But again, you won’t notice much of a difference between the S90C and the S95C, which sell for $700 more at $3,299 but are also on sale for $1,797 on Prime Day. The S95C’s biggest advantage is that it comes with Samsung’s OneConnect Box, which makes the TV slimmer and offers a clever way to send just one cable to the TV if you’re wall-mounting it and want a clean, minimalist look. But the picture quality between the two TVs is almost the same. The S95C is again a bit brighter.

However, I’ve been testing the S90C since late 2023 and it’s bright enough to enjoy the best content. I tested it with some of my favorite epic content like Dune, Tron: Legacyand Avengers: Endgameand offers an incredible image that immerses you in the most cinematic stories. I have no hesitation in calling the S90C one of the best TVs Samsung has ever produced.

There are very few downsides to the S90C, but I will mention a few things to keep in mind. I don’t like Samsung’s built-in software and user interface running on its proprietary Tizen platform, as it’s not very intuitive to navigate and doesn’t always match the picture quality of content from streaming services. I recommend connecting Apple TV 4K or a 4K Chromecast with Google TV get a better user experience and streaming content that is better optimized to take advantage of the S90C’s great picture.

As with most TVs, sound quality on the S90C is mediocre, so it’s worth adding a soundbar to take advantage of this TV’s cinematic potential. I would recommend Samsung Q900Cwhich is on sale from $1,397 to $797 for Prime Day, or Hisense AX5125H, which is on sale for $289 (down from $349) on Prime Day. I’ve tested both of these soundbars and the Samsung is great for big booming sound, while the Hisense is a very solid choice for the money and a significant upgrade over the built-in sound of virtually any TV.

Finally, I would like to mention one more television, the so-called Samsung S95D. This is the 2024 version of Samsung’s flagship OLED. Before you invest in an OLED TV like the S90C, I have to let you know that I consider the S95D to have the best picture quality of any OLED on the market, mainly because of its anti-glare screen. Not everyone likes a matte finish, but the one on the S95D is exceptional. It doesn’t detract from the image, but enhances it, so it’s great to watch in a bright room. That’s why I named the S95D the best TV of the year. That means even for Prime Day, the 65-inch version is on sale for just $2,897, which is $500 off its regular price of $3,397. So on Prime Day, you could almost get two S90C TVs for the price of one S95D.

If money were no object, the two TVs I would most recommend right now would be either Samsung S95D or Sony Bravia 9. But I consider it worth the money Samsung S90C and Sony X90L TVs that offer the best picture and features for the price.
