If you’re planning to buy the iPhone 16 Pro or iPhone 16 Pro Max when they’re likely to launch later this year, we hope you’ve saved up because these phones are sure to be among the most expensive phones of 2024.
Of course, no iPhone 16 prices have been revealed yet, but based on previous models linked to leaks and rumors, it’s safe to say that the upcoming Pro models will cost a lot.
We can actually be more specific, so below you’ll find our estimated prices for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
iPhone 16 Pro price predictions
For starters, it’s worth looking at how much the iPhone 15 Pro costs, as that’s likely to be the minimum price Apple will charge for the iPhone 16 Pro.
The iPhone 15 Pro then starts at $999 / £999 / AU$1,849, but you can see the full price for each configuration in the chart below.
Storage space | US price | British award | AU price |
128 GB | 999 dollars | £999 | AU$1,849 |
256 GB | $1,099 | £1,099 | AU$2,049 |
512 GB | $1,299 | £1,299 | AU$2,399 |
1 TB | $1,499 | £1,499 | AU$2,749 |
So will the iPhone 16 Pro mirror it? It’s quite possible, but if anything, this phone could cost even more than the current model.
After all, the leaks suggest that there are plenty of upgrades coming to the iPhone 16 Pro’s specs. For example, it could have a larger display along with a new A18 Pro chipset and new ultra-wide and telephoto lenses.
In fact, we’ve specifically heard that iPhone 16 Pro camera lenses may be more expensive to manufacture than iPhone 15 Pro lenses. All this rather indicates that the price may rise.
That said, manufacturing costs have also increased with the iPhone 15 series, but Apple has kept prices similar to the iPhone 14 series (with some slight variations depending on your region). So one could argue that Apple could do it again and keep prices the same – but we’d be more inclined to say that a price hike is overdue.
So it’s almost impossible for the iPhone 16 Pro to cost less than $999 / £999 / AU$1,849, and while it could carry around that price tag, we wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was a bit more. expensive – perhaps starting around $1,099 / £1,099 / AU$1,999.
iPhone 16 Pro Max price predictions
For the most part, the iPhone 16 Pro Max price is subject to the same leaks and predictions as the iPhone 16 Pro price, but let’s start with what the iPhone 15 Pro Max is selling for.
This phone starts at $1,199.99 / £1,199 / AU$2,199, so that can be considered the minimum you’re likely to pay for the iPhone 16 Pro Max – you can see the full price for the iPhone 15 Pro Max in the chart below.
Storage space | US price | British award | AU price |
256 GB | $1,199.99 | £1,199 | AU$2,199 |
512 GB | $1,399.99 | £1,399 | AU$2,549 |
1 TB | $1,599.99 | £1,599 | AU$2,899 |
But as with the iPhone 16 Pro, we expect a high probability that the upcoming phone will be priced higher than the current model.
And for the same reasons as for the iPhone 16 Pro, namely that as production costs increase, from Apple’s point of view, the price is likely to increase, and the costs associated with the production of the iPhone 16 Pro Max may increase even more than the iPhone 16 Pro.
The phone is said to sport a mammoth 6.9-inch display along with the same A18 Pro chipset as its smaller sibling. It’s also said to have improved cameras – including possibly a new “super telephoto lens” that could be enormously expensive. Either way, just like the iPhone 16 Pro, the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s cameras are said to feature a new — and expensive — type of lens.
Some leaks have also referred to the iPhone Ultra, which could be a different handset, but alternatively it could be a different name for the iPhone 16 Pro Max – and whether it launches with Ultra in the name or not, the fact that such a name change is even whispers suggest it could be a huge upgrade. And with huge upgrades can come huge prizes.
That said, we doubt Apple will push through with any price hikes, especially if it continues to carry the Pro Max branding. So our guess is a starting price of up to around $1,199 / £1,199 / AU$2,199.
We should know the exact price soon, as the iPhone 16 release date is likely to be in September.
